A Foodie's Love Sonnet

Bowled over, kneading you, feeling sub-lime
from my head tomatoes. Hear my heart beet!
Eggcited, wonton you olive the thyme.
Donut you carrot all for me at yeast?

You’re one in a melon, sweet sugar pie,
forbidden fruit I find so appeeling.
Cherry on the cake, apple of my eye.
Has there bean love? Don’t berry the feeling.

It’s a big dill and takes two to mango.
I’d sacri-rice all because you compleat me.
You oat to love me. Peas, love miso!
Just food for thought. Chew that fat with your tea.

I have so mushroom in my heart for you.
A pizza your heart? Say yes, honey - DEW!

Fountain

I want to eat Pizza
While wishing on a star
To taste the taste of happy
By being where you are

We’ll choose to be silly
Not afraid of mistakes
Skinny dip at midnight
and skip pebbles on lakes

Why not dance together
While howling at the moon
Or become little children
and watch a cartoon

A world infused with laughter
can change how we think
From this fountain of youth
We’ll both gladly drink

For nothing could be better
Than sharing it with you
Because getting into mischief
Is a blast if there are two!

You Wont Steal My Joy

The Las Vegas shootings were Horrific.
The people running as the rapid fire was
sounding off in the background!
The wild fires in California, fifteen people
dead, and it is not controlled yet!
   Hurricanes Maria, Irma, Jose, southern
coast is devastated, Puerto Rico is in need
of help!
Pizza Gate Pedophile rings in America!
Players kneeling and disrespecting our flag
for which Men and Women have sacrificed
 their lives for.

                   Enough is Enough!

You will Not Steal My Joy, I reach for the remote
and turn off the "Joy Stealer" the TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wedding Bell Blues

The tradition of marriage,
Bourgeois blackmail and baggage,
Is it all a bargain for men,
Is this what white weddings meant?
All the love that is lost,
And what is the ultimate cost?
A divorce court pizza,
Magistrate smirks like Mona Lisa,
Four corners, one for each,
Dog gets the crust, if it can reach,
Cats get the anchovies,
Were white weddings all for phonies?
When is the revolution?
Blancmange brides for pollution,
Bridesmaids-Little Bo Peeps on crack,
Does society cut us some slack?

We joined the bourgeoisie,
All ends in tears and hypocrisy.

I Still Believe In Unicorns

When we are small
We believe love will cure all
That good deeds go unpunished
That our dreams will fully flourish.

When we grow up we are pessimists
Flaws in all things exists
People let you down
And all smiles turn into frowns.

But I want to hold on to sunshine
To rainbows, unicorns, all things magically divine.
I want to hold on to you,
Because love and dreams can come true.

I love our childish ways
Gummy bears and cartoons on Sundays
Pizza boxes, no plate
Still believing in what brought us together; fate

Cautionary Couplets

CAUTIONARY COUPLETS

I hazard it has many times been said
That we have never lived if we’ve not bled

If you attest a life of no regret
I’ll wager you have never placed a bet

If in your time you never crash and burn
You miss an opportunity to learn

If you forever seek to others blame
Well they may seek to ever wipe your name

If you choose peace at all cost you may see
A subjugated life of tyranny

If love is all, in truth I promise that
With careful seasoning I’ll eat my hat

If you aver you never told a lie
I’ll guarantee the moon’s a pizza pie

If you contend you never commit sin
Then join this club of one, they’ll let you in

My Cheesy Pizza Rolls

My cheesy pizza rolls
Only you know
About my love
When i put on my glove
To take you out of
That oven's steel fortress
Because you are hot
I know i'm not
Going to burn my tongue
Because i am still young
And i like my taste buds
So i will wait
The ten minutes it takes
On top of my stool
For you to cool
Cause of your boiling sweetness
I am wanting more
Than the smell of your
Melting four cheeses
One bite and i'm falling into pieces
Because you are
My cheesy pizza rolls

A Tri-Pie Epulaeryu Delight

Comfort Food: Chicken Pot Pie

Savory gravy bubbling
through slits in the top
of Mama’s flaky crust;
chunks of potatoes,
peas, and white chicken -
Comfort for
REAL!

Pizza Pie

A saucy Mama Mia
topped with mounds of cheese,
meat, and veggies of your choice.
Slices of heaven.
Who doesn’t love this?
Pizza is
bliss!

Fruit Pie

Blueberries or raspberries
heaped in to a shell.
Rhubarb; cinnamon apple,
lemon or key lime!
I’ll eat any time
such sweetened
tarts!

A Fishing Trip

I love fishing in the deep blue sea,
but that fishing sure cost a lot to me.
First you have to gas up the car,
sometimes you have to go far.
Of course you have to stop for breakfast for two,
it cost $34.50 what can you do.
Then we need to rent a boat,
I hope this one really floats.
And then you need bait and such,
boy it really cost too much.
Finally we are out in the bay,
we fish in the sun all day.
We return home burned, broken and well done,
I guess we even had some fun.
However no fish were caught this day,
so pizza for dinner, it's OK.

Overheard On the White House Wall

Overheard by flies on the White House wall

During Bubba's tete-a-tete with his moll.

      "Order extra salami

         And a tad more pastrami

Fer my pizza on yer next service call!"

Happy Meal Plague

A “Big Mac attack” and “Have it your way”
are all past slogans from fast food places
for most Americans fast food will stay
because Big Macs and Whoppers feed faces

Americans love to eat on the go
we love pizza hamburgers and hot dogs
and the value meals never cost much dough
other countries may think we’re all just hogs

truth be told we need to eat to survive
Burger King and MacDonald’s does the job
some may think fast food as food at a dive
Long John Silver does have corn on the cob

right or wrong fast food will never leave us
until the day all Americans bust

City Sounds

Gritty city sounds
Nature’s sweet music abounds
So come on guys- lend an ear

Plump pigeons cooing
Fire escape a-wooing
The notes of amour ring clear

What’s that? A “Squeak! Squeak!”
Poor mouse has begun to speak
Stuck to one of my glue traps

Surly gulls squawking
Their raucous way of talking
While dining on pizza scraps

Screeching love defines
Some caterwauling felines
With clamorous, catty glee

Such melodies soar
Though some of you may abhor
My tenement symphony

It's Thanksgiving

"It's Thanksgiving" is a children's song, sung to the tune of "Oh, My Darling Clementine".

It's Thanksgiving, it's Thanksgiving,
It's Thanksgiving-time to eat;
Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes,
Pumpkin pie...yum, what a treat!

Bonus activity: Ask children if they were preparing Thanksgiving dinner, which foods they would prepare. Would they prepare traditional dishes, such as turkey, mashed potatoes and pie? Or nontraditional dishes like tofu turkey and carob chocolate pie? Or, would they simply order a pizza? Why did the child choose that particular menu fare-love of tradition, special dietary needs, ease of preparation?

Isa

(Isa was an ESL student of mine from a small island country off Africa. The students were learning about limericks, and I wrote this one for Isa, because she really did love junk food!)

A lover of junk food, sweet Isa
was happy when she got her Visa.
For with it in hand,
she left for the land
of burgers and french fries and pizza!

I Am From Me

I am from

I am from my mom’s jean jacket with leather lining, from levi’s and converse.
I am from the cracked blue painted walls and worn down white windows.
I am from the white calla lilies, the roses.
I am from yearly trips to Laguna Beach and stubbornness, from Patty and Camille and Marcus.
I am from the procrastination and determination.
From “clean up your damn room” and “take out the trash”.
I am from pseudo Hanukkah. From matzo ball soup, latkes, and no religious aspects.
I’m from Santa Ana and Europe, quesadillas and pizza.
From the two different families.
I am from Natural Bridges State Beach, Russian River Campgrounds, and Foothills Park.

And the Girl Fell In Love With the Pizza

I carefully break the crusty circle
As I lift a slice of cheese;
The chewy, stretchable goodness
Clings and breaks off as I please.

I lift it close with both hands
And inhale its warm, cheesy smell;
It sends a spasm of hunger
Deep into my stomach’s well.

I temptingly take a nibble;
The gooey warmth fills my cheeks;
My tongue finds pepperoni and pineapple,
And the flavors explode in peaks.

The fluffiness of crust, the chewiness of cheese,
The spiciness of meat, and the tanginess of fruit
Collide in my mouth, sends my taste buds whooping
And my stomach grumbles and gives a hoot!

I can no longer refrain!
I can no longer restrain!
I stuff my face until
I can no longer contain.

You

You are
My friend
My rock
My morning
My sock (the one without the hole in the toe)
My pepperoni on my pizza
My clock (I love clocks)
My new toothbrush
My rainfall on my windows
My head rush (that was fun!)
My Christmas lights
My clean laundry
My full tank of gas
My Saturday afternoon
My World Series
My comfy couch on a Sunday
My wind thru the trees
My snowfall at night
You are my friend
You are my all.

Cheese

I have cheese before I eat something
Blue cheese is not an exception
I can have it anytime n love it with anything
I know being obese , its intake I must ration

Irresistible is caramelised onion pizza with blue cheese topping
I can stuff myself till I bloat n can eat no more
Brinjals on the other hand you will never see me eating
As this vegetable I just simply abhor

I've tried various recipes but loathed it more than before
But hated it more n more ,so Brinjals I keep offshore.

Maybe We Are Alone

The day the rainbow fell
wisdom died,
the white dove departed
and brought my soul to its knees

The future faded away
and feckless sounding words from freedom servers
spitting from a mouthful of cheesy pizza
led me to a hopeless tomorrow

Eating chicken soup with tortillas and hot sauce
I filled my gullet,
but the chicken soup didn't taste good,
I know my life is a lonely one

There are no secrets to be found in religion,
after all, who doesn't understand, "Do Onto Others..."
Maybe we are alone in a dark universe,
but feeling darker still is you not loving me.

On This Weary Platform

And on this weary platform love is seldom found,
to boast of love that's certain,
a love that's so profound.

On the wall the scribblings of all we feel and do,
sharing good adventure even a joke or two.

And if they find their lover
they all disappear,
but some will still be scrolling,
posting they are here.

A pizza; lovers, share for two,
and sip the curious wine,
So good and wholesome feels this love
they gossip down the vine

And on the platform made for two,
the lovers wear the crown.
For love that's true, and real will never let you down.

Wouldn'T You

I want a sassafras root beer soda
my head on Mount Rushmore South Dakota
I want a brand new pair of brown shoes
get my name on a brand of booze
wouldn't you

I want to live in a mega palace
cram Fort Worth into Dallas
I want to eat Chicago pizza in New York
invent an utensil to replace the fork
wouldn't you

I want to return ketchup to catsup
say to Patrick Ewing whats up
Jump Mount Everest in a leap
finally get eight hours of good sleep
wouldn't you

I want to trick a possum by playing dead
paint the White House in shades of red
Find the courage to confess my love to you
and hear you confess you love me too
please, please...wouldn't you
