The Love of "fall"

F alling in love with Winter; she’s ice cold dressed in snow white lace
A ll the while dating Summer, who’s still sizzling hot
L ove affairs bruised with revengeful reds, oppressed oranges, and yelling yellows
L eaving Summer with a promise to one day rekindle their love

A Womans Lesson

She journeys through time
As she goes door to door to her past,
And travel miles from miles to her mistakes.
She lands to her affairs
As she tours to the internal misery disease
Called deception that slay her spirit.
She continues to travel
As she learns about her love of yesterdays
To realize her past is the step to her future.
She is reborn.

Love Versus Lust

Some folk are prone to love affairs
For sex rewards the one who dares
They are hot to trot
Because they forgot
Miracles don't happen in pairs!

Sautéed scallops on the skirts of Italy
Debutantes of a chardonnay shimmy
Mediterranean terraces of broached stars
Gucci wallets moonlighting baroque hearts
Manolo Blahnik legs lavishly luring
High heel sculptures of effusive Etruscan art
Olive ties stirring perfumed Sicilian thighs
Inhaling fragrant glasses of jasmine jet eyes
Rosy secrets saturating burning blotted lips
Fiery fertile plumes of Pompeii's fresco kiss
Vesuvian silence preening suave sable hair
Folded napkins of toasted Venetian affairs

A Tragic Love Affiar

Well I'll be a monkeys uncle
If that old King Kong
And the lizard Godzilla
Did not one day fall in love

It was the wildest looking of all affairs
One of the strangest scenes
With all of that burly bristley hair
Mixed with all that slimy green

They both met on the corner
In The Big Apple downtown
Amid all the screaming heebie jeebies
Of people running around

Between the two of course you knew
It would be love at first sight
And what love story isn't tragic
Without a few squished passersby...

Before I Fall

Most mornings are mundane a routine struggle to present a pumped up state of affairs to an already exasperated air [but this time it's different] soft breezes blow across my pillow brushing smiles upon my skin my eyes have been awakened as comfort keeps crawling in sun kisses dangle off my prism and for once I can finally breathe hopeful happens upon reason drifting in every gaze you see don't change past imperfections splashed about your walls life's too short for wasting just catch me before I fall

Affairs of the Heart

In love affairs of the heart
  Be guided by your head
Better now to break apart
  Than wish you'd never wed

Lavender Roses

leading to our room. . .
fragrant petals you had strewn
        lavender roses
whose hue was that of the sky
when passion first bloomed for us.

lavender roses -
      your anniversary gift
for our fortieth . . .
where the path of blossoms ends. . .

The New York Situation

I am a new yorker
from afar
I grew up in new york
with t.v. stars
All the cop shows
and broadway affairs
Make us new yorkers
even though we're not there
We see the devastation
and offer our prayers
We want you to remember
No matter what God is there
You've always been rude
but now its time to be kind
An opportunity to love
before the end of time

A Family Affair

Angry and confused, I climbed the stairs.
My family was dear to me
I could not help shedding tears.
Could the lighthouse provide me with a key?
Outside the tempest roared, stormy seas so deep.
Yet the lighthouse was a solace to me.

My daughter in her room asleep.
Why did my wife call her a black sheep?
A solution my wife had to find.
One can't keep her daughter confined.
They need to bond and be aligned.

Problems with family affairs.
One of course could only plea.
All she had to do was open the door and peep
Resolve to speak quietly and kind.
The storm abated, so I returned to my family
With a hope that mother and child will find sanity.

Quit My Dreams

Get out you feral ghost, never come back..
quit haunting I pray, depart my poor mind.
Faultless in features, vain visage you lack,
eyes lost to yesterday, while mine so blind.

Wandering my dream's rooms, just as before,
not persuaded to move on to new light.
Sway like swishing brooms, peering out soul's door..
knowing faithless fears before yours took flight.

Unsettled love affairs widened the rift,
once welcome heart never cared to explain.
No longer vex or taunt my sullied gift,
neither guiltless nor condemned to remain.

Train your last tears toward a howling wind,
'way from tattletale heart longing an end.

Where Is Love

For all of my life I’m wishing for one,
It’s my desire since I was still young.
I’ve been to the moon and back,
Yet all these years it didn’t show up.

The merchants I met doesn’t have it,
The kings lied to me about it,
All our affairs are for them just a show,
Just to have a piece of my muffin and go.

I’m starting to think that it doesn’t exist,
I’m in despair;I'm searching for a remedy.
It’s the only treasure I want to have
Can you help me find where is love?

Endless Summer

her endless summer dream
gathers dust on its sand encrusted photo of
beach blanket love affairs

jet planes departing for distant lands
she had her five and dime sunglasses
and a transistor radio
tuned to the cheerful forever summer song
still has that picture of her in the fall of 66
hamming it up for the camera with her Stanley
he passed a while back

now she shuffles up along the seawall
with her big hat and her bags
candy for little ones
a kiss on the cheek for the nice
young man who brings the paper
its miami in febuary
its endless summer
its brighton beach's southside
and i know ill have to stay

Your'E the Poet

We write of love, we
write of glory, we
develop heroes for
our story.

Heroines, damsels fill
our dreams, desire and
passion write in reams.

We are consorts of the
meek and the bold, in
truth and honesty our
words are sold.

The ink we spill can
tell no lies, injustice
and hatred the pen
openly defies.

Sadness and joy two
amenable friends, as
memories and feelings
flow from our pens.

Admirers of beauty
haters of waste, the
stalwarts of nature we
readily paste.

Affairs of the heart we
draw from our own,
the kiss on the page is
ever to roam.

Born of the earth yet
live in the stars, the
fulfilment of dreams
these sentences of
ours.

In the Library My Love For Books

My world changes when I step in through the double doors of the old library A genre collection of leather-bound and gilt edging books displayed on the shelves A birthing room of knowledge Like a blossom that has been raised from a seedling Rooting with the main stem breaking the soil with leaves coming forth Using the water and energy of the sun ~ Embarking on a new exciting adventure everyday A peaceful life of magical dreams Love affairs and poetry that sings in my affection ~ In the old library I sit by the warm cozy fireplace with a fleecy throw on my lap With a book embarking on a new adventure © 8/6/2015

Leaders and My Affairs

Flattering words like berries
densely overgrown by moss like
the barracks around my dreams;

I dive into seas of prose and lyrics,
overwhelmed by the spirit of fiction
I go possessing what is not mine

Waves of quotes form my bible,
lines of wisdom and notable minds
are my virtue, my perfection

Leaders provide me with countless affairs
as I travel through words to different eras to
see every country, to live and love eternally,

The routine is to follow artists,
foreign inventors, proposers,
believe and live lives not truly ours

Releasing illusions will wreck all barracks
I must follow the dream, travel own journey,
indulge in the mind which is mine to possess

Why Can'T I Write a Poem

Why can't I write a poem
    'bout every shade of color
   kaleidoscope sunsets and brilliant blooms
Why's my imagery so much duller ...

  Why can't I write a poem
    'bout steamy love affairs
  where breathless paramours explore
    locales no eagle dares ...

  Why can't I write a poem
    in metric symmetry
Well, I know why ~ If I did that
    I'd lose my identity

Perfect Storm

Fallen deeply roams
Amongst Realms within spaces
Of nuded attire
Enhanced by a matching pair
Received stars on red carpet

Snapped allured affairs
Of cupids dart shot in sight
Igniting Fire
To which inside shines brightly
Of a perfect storm weathered

Sonnet 17

My love, shall I deceive thee with a kiss
While tending gardens of adultery
Leaving with lust; returning to your bliss
A man whose mask is most untrustworthy

Somehow I saw in something of a rose
A younger you, or innocence of youth
Attractions grew as other roses rose
Into affairs, from me to you untruth

For pain is the surprise you mustn't bare
Knowing of my affairs and afternoons
So it is that this mask I'll always wear
To cover up the guilt of my communes

Yet from our kiss should my secrets eclipse
Believe me, not the lies inside my lips

Drums of War Cannot Allay

Drums of war cannot allay the raging tides of men,
Affairs of nations peace undone once more deny
Failing the voice of citizens, leaders call to arms
The young again must face the battlefields of hate,
Those elected fail to sound the knell of warning
Cries, and bear not the struggles of the young men,
Soldiers who march to their deaths so needlessly.
Young women, too, must now the suffering know
Of futile wars on foreign fields once bravely fought
Because the world cannot reconcile love and hate.

Rhyming In a Cup of Soup

A poets paradise to share words and dreams...
Where friendships blossomed as smiles beamed...

A place to come in from the rain and always feel the sun...
Where love affairs of lines connect bound by none...

From one side of the world to the other we all touch...
A site built with passion for a poet who has grown so much...

I thank you Team Poetry Soup for a place for me to play...
Where I can write of love and life with my own rhyming way...

Thatcher's Demise

It was a love or hate her ,state of affairs!
Other's praised her works, but some groaned
 over her controversial policies!
As it was,the funeral inspired many scoffers,
if few sympathetic mourners!
But,where I come from we do not despise the dead!
Whether they led a good or bad life story!

My Love Affair With Poetry

Nights when I’m alone,
Icy wind flittering through the window,
The absent warmth of love echoing in my empty room,
I have frequent love affairs with poetry.
Its pulsating words gush themselves out on the white blank page,
It caresses my every emotion,
Sending me reeling through a torrent of multiple ecstasy,
I scream with release as every unhinged secret is documented rhythmically,
After, subdued by unthinkable shame,
I stash it away with the refreshing slide of a closed drawer,
I light up a cigarette and lie within the sheets like a film star,
I am who I choose to be,
Husband rings, why don’t I answer the phone?
I’m having an affair with poetry.

Limelight and Fanfare

Limelight, band music, fanfare
Politicians love gala affairs
Hidden in secret plans sealed
Who would have thought such a deal
By politicians who seemingly care
