This Song is for my Mother

This song is for my mother
Let her hear me cry
I couldn’t bring myself to write it
‘Til this darkened day arrived
A song about old promises
Made so long ago
Created and cremated
Ashes of the words I spoke

Long separated by the miles
Distanced from her golden smiles
Memory of a mother
Shared my dreams and really cared

Long separated by the miles
Distanced from her golden smiles
Mama…
I know I wasn’t there……

For you

Would have placed
A magic carpet
‘neath your weak and shaky legs

Would have raised
A strong west wind
Let you breathe with ease again

Would have bribed
God’s venal angels
Come and soothe your endless pain

Would have vanquished
All the demons
And bring peace to you again

Be the child
I never knew
In a land
We won’t grow old

Be the light
I always loved
Warmed my dark
And lonely soul

Be the girl
Playing games
In a world
The sun won’t set

Be the laughter
Calms my heart
I never will forget
I won’t forget, won’t forget

This song is for my mother
Let her hear me cry
Couldn’t bring myself to write it
‘Til this darkened day arrived
Song about old promises
Made so long ago
Created….cremated
Ashes of the words I spoke

I broke my promises, oh mama
Now you’ve gone away
I’m broken
Drowning in the pain each day

I’m drowning…drowning...drowning…drowning

This song is for my mother
Let her hear me…….

For the Love of Poetry

For love of poetry, spellbound am I
by force, that takes me to the land of words.
Beyond control, this power has its way
that leads me to uncover heart and soul.

This overwhelming power captures me;
like an addiction, I consume fine words
for them to shape the thoughts within my mind;
create great imagery that can be read.

And only fellow poets know this pain
of finding special words to paint a theme.
This search for us becomes a magic hunt
of hide and seek to capture them like prey.

Consuming is this poet’s gift of pen;
the task can be a tiresome marathon
of hours or days, and yet, if lucky can
flow out in minutes on the first clean page.

This love of writing poetry runs deep;
an inner urge that cannot be dispelled;
as captor, captive both, the poet’s goal…
to find some balance in completed works.

Midas Touch

~Do Not Trust a Word, He Says~

He speaks of sunken treasures the way no other man
The map of his essence is drawn in the stars
His smile of gold ride out the waves
The moon is pulled by the prestige of his masculine art
With great pleasure, your heart now sits in a glass case

His love lavishes making every moment memorable
This gentleman cultivates you from every direction
Your blood rises to his flirtatious ego
His eyes, manipulate you, invade every dream,
Endless lust, pulled by the enigma of dragon dust wind
Falling flowers of forgetfulness, when lost in his touch
He endures, he breathes in ways you can't resist

Uttered words easily wrap around your heart
In a game of trust, his lips persuade another kiss
Like a syndrome, you babble and drool ---- stepping all over yourself
You are naught more than a fool in love,
Trusting and believing every golden word spoken from his lip

~I LOVE YOU~

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

A kind word, of course,
Can soothe the flustered soul or bring a smile
To a frowning faceThat’s a given, but
In one’s troubled times, words still are
Only words.
Naked they become, for we see right through them when
Sincerity is misspoken and devoid of thoughtful deed.

Simple gestures are more meaningful than pretty words.
Persuasive poets perhaps pen verses to their beloved
Elegant and extravagant like pearlsEmpty all the same
Are artful words given in pretense or with thought of recompense.
Kindness for me is found in action!

Lovers - real and honest lovers - are
Obliging, and they are more than kind!
Unabashedly they step in to defend those whom they hold dear.
During good times and bad, they will be there,
Enduring every hardship by their lover’s side,
Relinquishing their own needs for the needs of their adored.

Thank God if such a man or woman
Has ever graced your life.
Actions of their ardor
Never should be taken for granted.

Words can be loud with promises,
Overflowing also with
Romance! But only a fool would
Deny that one's exhibition of love is
So much the sweeter!

Simple Words for Simple People

If I had those pretentious brains which act faster than this heart

maybe then I would abhore this soul which spreads freely through each verse

maybe then I would impress you with my intellectual grammar and sophisticated words

maybe then I would scrutinize my each and every coma, dot and exclamationmark!

But I would never let that happen,I'd rather go away.

Writing with my mind and not my heart leads only to asylum within the being of myself.

Poetry is my voice,my life,my escape,my each emotion stored,processed in a yesterday

breathing softly in fresh air, wanting to explode in death, love, passion and romance.

Each verse, a thought I'm able to scribe of yet unable to express through spoken words.

Maybe in a tomorrow you might pass by ,tread your footstep on my verse

but maybe in a today,a broken-hearted fool stops by to find comfort in my world

Maybe a prisoner, an insane man,a tramp ,or any outcast to society

would pick these shattered pieces and gather them as whole

and maybe through this scribbled cross-word puzzle finds God'love once again.

Maybe a little child who understands only little words

would turn the pages of silly rhymes i penned

rhymes which speak of moon and stars, angels, dreams and faries

and maybe He would smile, maybe He would laugh

Maybe he would dream ,the way i used to dream

and maybe He would write the most eloquent sonnet

or maybe just simple words about blossoming flowers

And maybe then,my mission is accomplished, and maybe I feel blessed.

Dancing Once Again With Words

Dancing once again with words,
As the two of us, embrace--
Another verse, another rhyme
Of waterfalls, and lace.

Romantic words in meter,
Although where's the gentle kiss?
Where's the touch and feel of it,
The tenderness, I miss?

Need I craft another verse, or two,
Of moon and leafy wood?
Should one appear, and touch my heart,
Then possibly I could.

But what would be the good of it,
Shall my words a love renew?
Then a sonnet I would surely pen
With the imagery of you.

And who can say, though distantly,
Perhaps a spark could grow--
Then I would dance, and cheek-to-cheek...
And let my poems go.

No Words

Words I’ve never spoken
are those I’ll never write,
like words that might recall
the glow I felt one night
One choice lifetime’s fragment
I took for paradise
and for which memory
alone cannot suffice.

One summer’s whispered end.
your feel, your touch, your scent,
your lashes on my cheek,
the pure enrapturement.
your hands and hair like silk,
your pause to gaze on me
seem now more illusion
than past reality.

No words can bring to life
the fleeting ghost of you.
You haunt my empty hours;
there’s nothing I can do,
for if you think of me,
I guess I’ll never know.
And how you made me thrill
no words can ever show.

God's Strength, God's Word, God's Love

trijan refrain

The heart half full means something’s wrong -
the Spirit’s oil runs low.
When emptied, broken, we are strong
refilled, and ready so -
God’s strength can fix a heart gone dull
our selfish contents He can cull.
       God’s strength restores
       God’s strength restores
each day to keep our mark on full

The heart half full means needs may go
unmet by God’s own grace.
We’re called to let our fellows know
that they can win this race.
God’s Word abounds with help each day,
it must be read to find the Way.
       God’s Word abounds
       God’s Word abounds
to fill the empty hearts who stray.

The heart half full calls us to prayer,
it’s time to take a break.
Engaged with work, no time to spare
another’s thirst to slake?
God’s love pours forth when we look up
and ask for wisdom in our cup
       God’s love pours forth
       God’s love pours forth
enough to share, our neighbors sup.

WORDS

Words can be as deadly as a knife
It can penetrate straight through your heart
Bleed all the spirit right out of your life
Twists your mind and tear you apart

Words can bring you pain and sorrow
Weaken the spirits of today and tomorrow
Breaks your heart and squeeze your head
Leave you living yet leave you dead

But words of love from the very start
Can instill much happiness to your heart
Eased your pain and comfort your mind
Have you seeing yet have you blind

Pledge of love and loyalty

This pledge that l,Ntando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed l am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only lie
in word alone but in action as well.

For that reason in every season
I shall show steadfast commitment
to the implementation of this pledge
with a great deal of astuteness.
I therefore commit myself to be your
devoted and delivering husband for
all the years l shall live with you
on this earth.

I shall treat you with the love and care
you deserve as my wife.
Indeed l shall treat you with
the distinction and dignity
that is befitting of the queen of my heart.
That body, that bone, that breath
shall be my mine to treasure,
for sure;
a dearness to promote and protect
for dear life…and love!
I shall stand by and with you in all the
situations of our life.
If the situation demands that we sail,
sail we shall together.
If the situation demands that we
climb,
climb we shall together.

I know very well what l am getting into:
I am getting into a marriage that is
overflowing with blessings.
This marriage- with our mutual
commitment-
will stand the test of time.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
brims over with a transforming power
of love.

This marriage-with our
mutual commitment –
will transform naivety into maturity
troubles into challenges
pretence into practice
pride into progress
bachelorship into companionship.
I pledge to be your steward and partner
for all times.

I shall value the consultations
and decisions that we make as
husband and wife.
As head of the family I shall do nothing

to derail our love train for anything else
least of all for personal and selfish reasons.
Now and forever

I am your lawful and loving husband…
This pledge that l, Nothando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed I am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only
lie in pronouncements but in practice
as well.

For this reason every season
I shall demonstrate untiring love
and loyalty to you;
a love and a loyalty that is a living
embodiment of our marriage vows.
I therefore commit myself to be your
honouring, supportive and loving wife
for all the years l shall live with you.
I shall treat you with the love and care
that you deserve as my husband.
Indeed I shall treat you with
the dignity and nobility that is befitting
of the king of my heart.
On my mind it is always fresh
that I am the flesh of your flesh.
Green or grown

I am the bone of your bone.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
elevates me into a kingdom of wifehood.
I shall endevour to put my family first
with all the rights, obligations
and privileges that come with wifehood.
I shall endevour to wipe off and ward off
loneliness and lostness from our relationship,
seeking nothing but your companionship;
banking on your stewardship,
sinking together any hardship.
Since you are mine
I shall not do anything else to undermine
our relationship for personal
or egotistical
reasons.
Now and forever
I am your lawful and loving wife…

Magic Words The Libertine Called Passion

The libertine flails his torches
Burning staffs in his hands aglow
Golden sparks from the kindle beseech you
To dance on flames that he throws
For he is a man they call Passion
No soul has escaped what he's sowed

Good bye to innocence
Only embers are left where he's roamed
Good bye to innocence
We all dance on the coals he calls love.

He is the thief we call Ardor
He spins plumes of turquoise and gold
Challengers fall, all are smitten
By warm sultry nights and moon glow
Behind his mask love is yearning
To break free of seductions steel glove

Good bye to innocence
His restraints bind us coarsely entombed
Good bye to innocence
We will dance on the ruins he calls love

What Where Who

What, Where, Who

If I where asked the what, where, who
That drives me to write poetry
I’d say that if I only knew
I’d leave right now this misery

But I’m afraid I’m not the sort
To answer in straight fashion
I have to offer my retort
With words of heartfelt passion

For just the other day I found
Encounter gave me food for thought
Soon the words they were outbound
Jumbled as they rushed and fought

Though ne’er the less inspired me
To battle on my way
Look toward the end and see
Which words I could display

Confess do I quite openly
That I am ignorant
Of poetry’s technology
Coz grasp it I just can’t

I wouldn’t know a what’s it called
From a what’s its name
In my mind won’t stay installed
Confusion is its game

But I somehow, find I can
Muddle through at best
Organise a crafty plan
And set my brain the test

For out there I see loneliness
Suffering and pain
A world in turmoil and distress
That cannot stake its claim

I look for every trait in man
Into the soul I stare
At his betrayal and flim-flam
Also the ladies fair

Dear love will always be there
And so will Demon war
And my thoughts on these I’ll share
Of that you can be sure

Laughter I would hope to bring
Sadness sometimes to the fore
Of natures forces I will sing
The list goes on galore

Yes I will write throughout the night
With hope to de-confuse
I’ll try to offer some insight
By giving up my muse

So now you know the what and where
But what about the who
Inspiring people are out there
Who knows - it could - be you

And what about that misery
I spoke of up above
Well, I gave that up for music
Of the poetrysoupers love x

Bittersweet

So bittersweet is this creative art of writing thoughts through words of poetry. So many say how peaceful is my heart that it can shape a verse that's part of me. They never see the bitter times of stress my mind goes through for every perfect word: the hunting down of them to bring success, so thoughts within my heart can then be heard. But when I reach the mountaintop, complete a gem that tells my mind it met the goal, the stress dissolves into a joy so sweet, and peace envelopes me, my heart and soul. What's in a Name .

Mom.I think I might be homosexual..
CALM~DOWN !.I just said THINK !..
It's not I fear
My multi~studded ear ,
Or that I look stunning dressed in pink
I wont complain ,
As I sip champagne
Of my blemish~free youthful looks ,
Or how I enjoy the finer things in life ;
Like fine art , or poetry books
NO !.I never joined the Girl~Guides
 You're being silly...patronizingly
I dont like damp
But I do love camp....
'Specially in Summer , by the sea
I like being with Brad and Christopher ;
Young Lloyd is such a dear
And Mourice is such  a sweet lad ;
Yes.I'll always keep them near
But , deep inside my inner soul
When push will come to shove
For my own part ,
Who has my heart ,
Yes !.It's Annie I really love
But one thing that still bothers me ,
And will , until my dying day...
Is , when on that morn....
Yes!.When I was born..
WHY ! !.Did you name me GAY ??...

Simple words of love

No need for a special day
to adorn you with affection.

For when love had forgotten me,
you arrived during Spring's bloom,
floating like a petal from the heavens.

I can remember Whispers from tepid winds,
led me to willow trees, bowing to your grace.
I still remember crystal clarion blue skies,
an eternal reminder of our first glance,
and the enchantment in your eyes.

But you say:

"The pen needs no metaphors,
just write simple words of love."

The pen flows like simple musing streams;
(oops a metaphor)

So, here goes in the most simplest words.
You are the answers to those questions I could not find.
What my heart yearned for in others, it found in you.
No confusion remained, as suppressed emotions flowed.
Your whole existence was conveyed through my poetry

How I wish to forever stay in that moment,
the first time our love turned into reality.
Without speaking a word,
my heart felt like we were not strangers.

You're still the one, only you.
The one who knows, the one who understands.
With you stormy seas calm and all that is lost is found.
With you in the world, nothing else matters.
I can't say it simpler....Than I am Yours.

Indulgent Love

Like melted chocolate,
words dripping
from his velvety tongue
rippled to her heart;
she tasted their rich flavor,
inhaled the aroma,
succumbing to
emotional intoxication.
She craved for more...
Seduced by luxuriant words,
her defenses weakened,
overpowered
by an irresistible urge
to bathe in love’s indulgence.

Opulent pleasures
caressed her thoughts.
Each syllable drew a sigh
Her wish: to be sated
His unspoken promise: to fill her
with abandon – to thrill her.
She no longer dared
inhibit the demands
her soul was making;
this was hers for the taking.
Warning signs: DENIED!
She tasted the sweetness
gratifying her cravings
in his indulgent love.

Lost to words poetic

Humble heart naked like a winter tree, yearns for seasons to remain evergreen. Furtive eyes have disturbed this reverie, soul stands still like nonchalant figurine Walking away to leave one heartbroken, her shallow soul left no apology. Regret kills the tongue from words unspoken, lost are lyrics from our anthology. Wounds so deep, nerves drown in crimson fluid, tears bleed sorrows lost to words poetic. Ink seeks metaphors to show whats ruined, so the heart feels peace like an ascetic In the midst of pain, veiled scars do not fade, constant reminder of all mistakes made. The Despair of In-Between

How I am torn from even thinking we could be more What reason do I have to change what we already are? I make an effort to stop myself from overwhelming you, And the next moment, you are all over me, As I, confused, welcome your playful caresses… And when I offer my own touch, You quickly, shyly decline, With a silence in between telling me you want otherwise I can see it in your eyes… In this trembling tension, I long to melt with you, Offering you a deeper place within me, You inch closer to me with doubt and fear, And I wonder when the barriers will burst My thoughts drifting into the glistening doubt of turning tides In our jokes and laughter, The love that is evident within us is coated away, Tucked within each chuckle, pushing me away… The part of me I long for you to see… For once, I want to hold you, yes… possessively Knowing it is not a trivial joke that brought us together Though here we have not even established mutual affection As it is evident in your complexion… I refuse to believe this is all in my head… It is not by chance that we inch closer to one another In that shy, shameful hesitance My love has no shame It only waits…. You must let go of your uncertainties But please… do not let me go again… Do not reject what is rightfully yours… For it kills me….love, it kills me…. My heart sighs every moment I see the love in your eyes I curse the laughter that we once have cherished For now it is merely a tool to mask the shame of our love I know my words would easily fall into your heart to reassure you, If only you would let open that door, I would show you…. I would hold you…kiss you, and know you…

Breathe

Inhale: You touch me softly, then kisses me with delight.
Exhale: It feels so good to me the spots you touch are just right.
Inhale: Should I tell you how I feel, or how you make me feel.
Exhale: Just to think you wouldn't understand me completely.
Inhale: When I spoke to you, I tried covering my reak thoughts.
Exhale: Not knowing how you would react to them! to ME!
Inhale: My anxious words jumping on the end of my tongue waiting to be
realeased.
Exhale: Speak your mind? But I don't love with my mind.
Inhale: I love with my heart therefore I speak from my heart........my soul.
Exhale: It's about time I started saying what I feel, what's in my heart.
Inhale: Somehow I let the words slowly fall back down my throat.
Exhale: They sit and wait.......Wait to be spoken, wait to be felt.
Inhale: I can't go on like this I need to tell you but how?
Exhale: WHEN? WHERE?
Why am I torturing myself by holding these feelings inI should tell you but only
when the time is right. When you think the time is rightI don't care about no one
elseIt's US only US!
Exhale: ( Ooops......I forgot to BREATHE)

Our single soul

As the trials of life come and go
Accept there blessings into your soul

Let them become without a doubt
A model of what you're all about

Don't let them get you all depressed
All things in life need be addressed

Let your spirit be like the wind
Your unseen dearest friend

As I see the lines in my face
Each a reminder of certain place

Do I wish they would go away?
Or that my hair wasn't turning grey

I have no desire to regain youth
For I have learned to speak my truth

When I was young I was so lost
I let my soul pay the cost

Running hard against the grain
Using drugs to kill the pain

Now I feel each and every day
Use the Lord to take the pain away

Do what I can accepting what I get
Treasure blessings that come of it

Thank the Lord through the poems I pray
Use what I need give the rest away

I seem to be driven by a single goal
Can you feel my heart and soul?

I slice them open in hopes they will bleed
Something that someone might need

The single fear I know so well
The fear that my words will fail

So once again I face my fear
As I write I shed my tears

Because these words are spoken true
My heart belongs to all of you

And through it's love I hope to show
We all share a single soul

A soul that is bound by love
Given us by the Lord above

Come Back To Me

The Ink Bottle sits, alone,
It’s only Companions,
The Feathered Pen,
The Paper Pad.

The Desk, once alive,
The Words,
No longer,
Written.

Love, abandon,
But wanting not,
The Freedom,
It has.

A Wooden Chair, dusty,
Reclines not,
For the Comfort,
Once given.

Time, a mystery gone,
With passing,
Never to be recovered,
Longing.

Days of gloom, waiting,
Shine not, The Light,
The Heart,
Once brightened.

Come back, to Me,
My words, of Joy,
Of Laughter,
Wisdom, once known.

The Poet

The Poet

We have been around for thousands of years
Reading our words for kings and queens
and a few people who gathered just to hear us talk.
We lived on the copper coins they could afford
and traveled through the lands writing what
we saw, dreams and thoughts.
Our words were put to music and made immortal
Others were acted on the stage making
people laugh and cry.
Some words changed the way people thought
and ended hatred between people who
should not feel hate.
People died because they did not realize what
our words could do
Many times a love bogged in fear was loosed
because of a few words we wrote.
God only knows how many children our words
have brought smiles to and how many starting
thinking because of what we wrote.
Why do we do it?
Not to end wars or hatred
Not for the lovers who found each other because of us
Not even for the copper coins people throw
We do it because we love words
We do it to share our feelings
and we do it so that someday maybe someone will read
our thoughts, dreams and words and they will be
remembered long after we are gone.

These Words

I would like to thank you for your visit.
I have removed these poems for a distant future book publication.
I believe we poets, can make a difference
in this worldWe live in the 21st century,
we have tools( technology), we have our past, and imagination.
We just don't have the courage, because
I guess most are afraid to fail, to loose money.
All I have to say is we can't take money with us,
when we dieI also say hasn't mankind failed enough,
and isn't mankind worth the effort, our children is worth the effort..

Thank you, and my your God Bless you

the Oracle in Love

       She laced her eyes
closed with the ties
    of lover's binding vows

     she's flying blind
to prick your mind
    with thoughts
   she's writing now.

She's gained conclusions
      from her flight,
and virtues from your smile,

     she felt your face
  in blinding grace,
     she glorifies your style.

    The double helix
spirals on
to form us as it may,

    we choose another one
to be
a place for us to stay.

The atmosphere
    there crackles,
with lightning
    on her tongue,

    She spins around,
in sightless sound,
     and shatters..........
          deaf and dumb.

WORDS

Walk with me for a while
And listen to my words
That fall like rain and
Drench the ground we pace

Talk with me for a mile
And I will watch your words
Spread like butterflies
On this road we grace

Brilliance comes in many ways
In words, in smiles, in deeds
But the greatest brilliance
Blinds the eye and
Dazzles make shift needs

Words they fall like petals
They carpet all the ground
And in the end their
Blown away and
Gone without a sound

Reason For Your Poetic Words

Your mesmerizing words held me
Like arms around me so tight
They full fill my very fantasy
The stars that shine in your night

To lay beneath your gaze Longing
Lips that you so softly had kissed
My touch be to you so calming
No one else that you could resist

Blushing morn to whom you wake
Moonbeams that seem to seduce
Moistened love for you to take
The reason for the weeping spruce

The one who strolls through dreams
Receiver of whispered words tender
The reason your smile does beam
The one body that could surrender

Your poetic pen with ink that writes
Of a love that steals my very soul
Ahh to be that one ray of sunlight
Your sweet words could make me whole
