Teacher's Pet

As I look back, it all seems funny now
Recalling all those awkward teen age years
I pushed the limits farther than allowed
Supposedly when young, we had no fears

Infatuation caught me with the blues
My heart was swollen by love's gentle sting
It was a crush that only left a bruise
Left by the diamond in her wedding ring

The first day I laid eyes on her, I fell
The lightning bolt she was, that shook my world
And to this day I swear I'd know her smell
Could she have read my mind, she'd likely hurled

I hated school but never missed her class
She said she loved me 'cause I made her laugh

First Love

The arboretum looks as it did then
With silver maples dancing in the breeze
Wildflowers bloom within the narrow glen
Remember how we kissed beneath the trees?

One special oak displays the heart you carved
With our initials set within its wall
We were so young and yet our souls seemed starved
So passionate are teens when first they fall

Today I came to view the art we left
Surrounded by the blooms, the trees, the birds
And though my heart seeks you, I am bereft
Of promises defined by long lost words

I miss that passion coursing through our veins
Now you have left and loneliness remains

I Often Wonder

You first held my hand in rapture sown, soft-honed land.
Time rose our teen romantic throes through joy-spiced air.
When our lips met with eager flair by an aloof stream's stare,
we lost focus under starry skies devoted to our sighs.
Time hasn't frayed my feelings from our love's ballet in twilight rays ...

I often wonder if you also remember and hold this time as tender.

Stardust In Dreams

Stardust dreams of you in my teens remain
sacred in hours spent wishing you would be
mine to cherish, to kiss, to love. It was not to
be but your handsome face still lingers in my
thoughts, in church choir songs where you
gently reached out to touch my long auburn hair.

My Rhyme

Roses are black.

Violets are dead.

Love is bitterly sweet.

Like a shot to the head.

They say love will kill you.

It will be the slowest form of suicide you've ever met.

Love

Is love blind,
Or blind are my eyes?
Tricky it may be,
This question to the wise.

Do you think it's divine,
Or some hormones play?
Is it just subconscious?
Who can truly say ?

Never did i encountered
This thing called love.
Hope it's beautiful,
not just a bluff.

Will it be a bless for me?
Will it be a curse ?
Is there anybody
with whom i can discuss ?

Strange as it sounds to hear,
This story of mine .
Question to the fate is -
Will we ever combine ?

Wishing for you

You’re still here
But not physically
although you appear constantly
You’re the wish I make on stars on the long dark nights without you
You’re the candles on my cake I blow out as I wished our firefly loved still burned
You’re the wishbone pulled form the turkey I never ate to thin myself out so you’d stay
You’re the fallen eyelash from my eyes,
the same eyes that cried rivers so the idea of us would stay afloat.
You’re everywhere as every wish in every second of everyday
But no amount of wishing and hoping would ever make you stay

A Brutally Honest Valentine's

My darling enigma, my dove
You’re the epitome of my love
Your smile shines at me pearly white
Pale skin shines and glints in the light
Silken locks, obsidian flow
Eyes just like ice, crystalline glow
Peals of laughter ring like a bell
Enchant me; I’m under your spell
You walk with a musical flow
Tiptoeing with softness through snow

But, alas, you open your mouth
Utter tripe spilling out
If only you’d keep your mouth shut.

Sorry

"Sorry" doesn't cut it.
Well neither does a butter knife.
I guess I'll have to say "sorry"
For being in your life.
"Sorry" for being black.
And doing what i do best.
Like RAP, BASKETBALL and SWEAT.
Instead of studying for a test.
"Sorry" for being imperfect
"Sorry" for getting sick
"Sorry" for being a man
"Sorry" for makin' you tick
There are some things you cannot change
Like color and heredity.
There's one thing I forgot to say.
"Sorry" for bein' me.

This is sort of a sarcastic poem. I love me. :)

My Lifetime Friend: My Mother

MY LIFETIME FRIEND: MY MOTHER

Throughout childhood and adolescent days,
She was my staunchest supporter,
And through teen years and young adulthood
I was glad to be her daughter.
As a mother-in-law and grandma,
She’s there whenever/wherever she’s needed,
And if this was to be her lot in life,
She’s definitely succeeded.
But whatever she is to other folks;
A friend, sister or other,
She is to me, and will always be
MY LIFETIME FRIEND: MY MOTHER!

Living Seasons Through

Bodies together
Pressed against the cold, harsh night
We hold on to love

In the sweet, soft spring
We lay on a tall, steep hill
And hold on to love

Summer's baking heat
Hiding in the shade of trees
Still holding our love

The leaves are falling
Crunching beneath our footsteps
Forever, our love

We'll last through seasons
Enjoy our love together
Just you wait, my love.

Blazing With Heat and Passion

Our chemistry is a fire
Blazing with heat and passion
Our feelings are a never ending road
Stretched out with time to share memories

Our eyes are a sunset
Shining bright to create true love
Our lips are the chains
Locked together to seal a kiss

Our hearts are the doors
Open for new experiences together
Our thoughts are a love letter
Speaking words of deep meaning

Being with you,
Is the world to me
Because our chemistry is a fire
Blazing with heat and passion

Not Knowing

I know I made a mistake
a mistake that I cannot change
but I did it unknowing
not knowing the consequences
and there are many of them
not knowing I will lose you forever
and never be in your arms again
not knowing you wouldn't want me back
after all the times I've tried
not knowing I would feel so much pain
my heart aches and yearns for your love
not knowing I would lay crying so many nights
my eyes and head hurting from so many tears
not knowing you would move on
you no longer want me you like someone else
not knowing you wouldn't love me anymore
I still love you and always will

I hate what I did
not knowing the consequences

Love Me

Love me
I beg for love with every encounter
just for a touch or a nibble
to feel a warm chest against mine
I want to feel the love of a man
a man who possesses a heart of pure gold
I yearn to feel hands on my hips
and a tongue entwined with mine
such temptations shouldn't take over my youthful mind

Bully

you pick on the innocent
pray on the weak
leave the unwanted in your dust
harming all in your path

they go home
bruised and beaten
filled with tears
a lump in their throats

still breathing
still a love in their hearts
yet they have more strength
than you ever will

Happy Birthday

Each day marks an earthly rotation full; The ascending sun warms, and setting cools. This day is pinnacle, hence above all; Our star’s broadening smile turns to you. Life beacons thy pleasure for things as such: The love-sick bird and sweet whispering gale. To exist is chance—yearns cherishing much; For it is rare a human knows its luck. Seize this day with vigour—it is quite yours, (‘Though the seizing of days ought be common). Search for the willing, you’ll find them in scores— The persons willing: rejoice by side you. Happy Birthday is all I wish to add, Along with the regards of a young lad!

My Ruthless Dreams Collaboration

Up early and off to school I must go
Full of pep and not too slow,
That was then when I was young
This is now a new age I have begun,
How I hate them as I climb out of bed
Early mornings are for the dead,
Unreasonable I must seem
Unyieldingly demanding where is my coffee cream,
But I did love them bed and pillow
Seems so long ago I dreamed of an armadillo,
Now they‘re ruthless dreams
I just can’t do them with ice cream,
I’m now past my prime teens.

Just Fine

There was a point in my life when I was going downhill

A point in my life that I couldn't express how I would really feel

A time in my life where I would hide with lies

Smile when I 'm out--then go home and cry

But now that you're here, everything's been smooth

I guess you can say that I've found the missing clue;

To this mYstErY called life;

Everything that was wrong is now right

I looked at myself and knew that something needed to be changed;

But for some reason I thought that it would take alot of pain.

It didn't, and I did; so that must be some sort of sign

That as long as I'm with you everything will be just fine

He's Been Played...Hurt....

he's been played...
hurt...
yet again
so he sits and wonders
what the f@#k to do
he's been looking for "THE ONE"
the right girl...
wifey material...
he's waiting for the one
that will love him for him...
for who he truely is....
will he ever find her...?
well......
if he would just look at whats right in front of him....
he'll be sure to find his girl....

The One Called Michelle

I searched only to find,
days more survived,
th'n wooed by life,
asking the heavens why.

Her name held a promised vow..
likened to a solitary bell,
from tall steeple's climb,
oh, how far I fell..
for one called Michelle.

I'll meet you in starlight again..
if rightful universe is willing,
to lend a helping hand.

Maybe, just maybe,
if they hear me praying,
where winged angels go singing..
her laughing eyes still playing.

Night passes on,
awaiting tomorrow's dawn,
somewhere a lone bell still ringing,
where queen takes pawn.

Two lover's lips willing to relearn,
whispered in a wishing well,
softest voice' heralding a return,
the one called Michelle..

Time

In a smile it started
In a second it grew
In a minute we were light-hearted
In an hour we knew
In a day we tried
In a week it came true
In a month it died
In that moment, I lost you.

Heart

She hallowed out her heart again,
She tore out all the black.
Then scraped the walls with her bare hands,
Until she reached the back.
She washed off all the rusted screws,
And broken veins, and pounding wounds.
She tried to make sense of this scene,
But honestly, she could not think.
She knew she had to start fresh,
But in her chest was left a mess.
But in her hands was left the flesh,
Of memories and secrets kept.

Enduring Hearts

The left handed boy with a stick in his hand drew a row of hearts
across the sand. Tides crept in and washed them away but he
drew them again the very next day..
A girl pinned a heart on the arm of her sleeve. It rhythmically pulsed and
began to breathe, open to all to give and receive..
Children colored hearts and kept in the lines. They gave theirs away
as Valentines..
A teen carved a heart in the base of a tree, professing his love
til eternity..
Two lovers soaked in a heart shaped tub, their bodies intertwined
in an intimate hug..
A life is now gone and laid to rest while their heart beats on
in another person's chest..

Lust

One cannot chide
A teenage bride
Who wants it all done proper

To God Above
She swears its love
But God knows that's a whopper!
