Snow Angel

Snow Angel

headlong into clouds

babe dug tunnels in the snow

smiling from heaven

……a day like today….. sun reflecting off the icy snow, about 5-below-zero….my animal best
friend (Golden Retriever) “Babe Ruth” thought he was in heaven on earth!....now he’s in
heaven smiling…

Haiku on My Family

Second Chance May 2016
Sponsor: Eve Roper

five generations
   connected to my grandpa
      kindred forefather

parents united
    unto them came four children
      love to go around

mother faced cancer
   a dear lady, my angel
      adulthood so strong

adoring siblings
   warmhearted and devoted
     affections of blood

money not vital
   wealthy in rich loyalty
      assets of true faith

our childhood dog Bo
   my sweet Golden Retriever
      my canine best bud

united as one
   roots form a family tree
     belovedly linked

For those who've never owned a dog Your life has been missing a treat The greatest feeling ever known to man The epitome of love at your feet Most loyal companion we've ever known Our Golden Retriever is that The most happy joyful disposition ever We learn a lot from this fact In spite of all of our many problems These guys are always there They cheer us up and help us realize Life's simple secret is to share Share the love that's in everyone's heart Nothing's more important in life Doggies know, pay attention my friends Their loyalty gets rid of our strife © Jack Ellison 2014

Love feast

Love feast by Steven Hudson

I have looked upon too many scarred, sullen and hard faces these many days.
Loud, crude, gruff men who take and push and fight.
This ship has run its course, sleepless, tossed about,
Every port and harbor, sea and foreign land.
My companions smell and to look at them would make you turn down.
I’m pretty sure I have a tapeworm and my piss is the wrong color.
So my love, when here at last I see your face,
You’re smile, piercing eyes, and silky long hair,
To gaze at you now is a love feast to behold,
And from now and forever you will always be…..
The most captivating golden retriever I have ever seen.

Get the Ball

Get the ball
Get the ball
Get the ball
Family legend has it,
that was my famous toddler call
Before I could walk,
and even barely crawl,
I was a baby bouncer
who loved to toss the ball
Big brother Michael
was my golden retriever
Get the ball
Get the ball
Get the ball
Look, I made my brother smile, y'all
Because the game is over,
once the ball starts rolling
down the steps at the end of the hall

Annie

Just discovered the love of dogs For the absolute very first time Had always been a lover of kittens Until Annie invaded my mind Canines and I never connected Before Annie the golden retriever Awesome is how I'd describe this gal Now a “man's best friend” believer How did I get along up to now Never knowing what I was missing Shows me such bubbly enthusiasm When for a treat she is fishing Her love is absolutely over the top Few humans have this ability Unconditional is how I'd describe it Creating a feeling of stability So now sweet Annie, she's da bomb Enhancing my life ten fold Filling a void with her adorable ways A treasure unique to behold © Jack Ellison 2013

Best Friends

Constantly drooling and begging for more
Existing to sleep and poop on my floor
Patrolling the yard protecting the king
A nap in the shade while birds start to sing
But short is the song like a broken receiver
Ready to pounce the Golden Retriever
Unconditional love best friends from the start
My dogs my children I give you my heart.

My Real Live Love Rug

MY REAL LIVE LOVE RUG

I have a real live love rug; it lies right in front of the fire
It is a very nice snowy white, and it is full of love desire

It’s so irresistible; the type that likes, to catch your eye
If I try to ignore it, with its wet nose it nudges my thigh

It likes to lie on its back; asking for a rub with your feet
It is my golden retriever; my real live love rug, so sweet
