I Think Of You - An Alternative Universe - 6

From childhood it was a world of two...you and I...
I leaned lightly, leisurely against your heart and you let me in.

We were five I use to draw you rose scented flowers
using an ordinary led pencilYouth! The world was ours.

Seven!  I know that was the first time I saw you blush.
I whispered a song for you so no one else would hear.

Oh when we were nine! The potato sack race I entered with Lisa.
You gave me that lookOh that look!  And you  left without a word.

At eleven years old I had my "magic wink""A Magic Wink" you'd
say sarcastically How it made you giggle to make fun of it.

It was at thirteen we decided to burn the gym floor with our moves.
Our first dance You stole my breathEmptied the room of oxygen.

Fifteen...we started running and my God we ran and ran...
our shoe prints dug into the concreteIt was then I knewForever.

Then suddenly at seventeen in the slip of time you left, dissapeared.
Stunned! I slept through the next two years even in the full light of day.

At nineteen I swam an endless pool but even the chlorine couldn't
clear your scent from my memory as my spirit filled out hard as steel.

Was it on my twenty first birthday you showed up? You showed up
tried to hug me helloSilent! Cold! I turned and walked away.

Was I still twenty one when I apologized for that dayWhen you asked
for an explanationI recited false words but we both knewHurt for hurt.

Then at twenty five we still had issues to work outI asked you bluntly
why you cut me loose in the prime of our youthYou my first and only.

I asked the question that burned in my gutWithout words your eyes spoke.
You were still in love with meThere was only meI your first and only.

Finally our lips met to never part againLeft to wonder why, I accept our
lives without an answerMy love was thatWhy would I have let you go?

Older than old nowOne last time you leaveDeath makes this choice.
Alone again I remember how I never knew why once you left.

Not everything  is explained or understood,
like music by a one arm man playing a violin.

I sport my blank stareNaked is the body of life.
Mystery sings blind the song of the lark!

and I...

i think of you.

Dreams of India

Dreams of India

Her music haunts me
in such a knowing way
it makes me weep
and causes my heart to ache.

I become homesick for her
scents, her sounds, her food,
her enchanting dance
which spawns dreams
of her romance.

I know in my heart
I have lived there,
I know, I have loved there.

Her poetry transcends
my spirit to encompass
a wholeness that is
so familiar to me.

I dream of the Ganges ,
and her gentle cleansing flow,
of reflections on its surface
when the moon is hanging low.

Of crickets singing nightly
to serenade me to sleep.
I dream of colors of the saris,
the beauty that they keep...

Of garlands placed with care,
a gajra in a maiden's hair
and the hues of floral leis.

I hold a reverence for Hindu
gods and goddesses.
I aspire to learn the sacredness
of varmala in the seeds of
past lifetimes I have shared.

A passion grows for those
whose love glows through their
auras to welcome strangers.

I'd love to share a cup of chai
to chat with friends in open air.
I long to return home, though
I have never been there.

a gajra: flowers which females use as a decoration
for their hair.

Varmala: is a tradition from ancient times where a beautiful garland of flowers symbolizes a proposal of marriageIn the tradition of SwayamvarA female would choose her life partner from a group of suitors by placing a flower garland around the neck of her chosen manOnce the girl had made her choice, a marriage ceremony would be held right away.

Laminated Love

LAMINATED LOVE

Frozen flames pressed
between each page;
suddenly, I felt each passing note.
The painting on the wall began to breathe
gently the same colors repeated life
I was so close; I felt every vibration
and there underneath the gloom,
the roof let in the luminance of the moon.
A memory unfolded while I held your hand,
repainting our years, a devoted love
at the heart of everythingSteam is drawn
from our handsThe canvas,
the beautiful canvas, tied by solid green-gold.
Flames-brushed each wall as ageing you and I.
In perfect harmonyTOGETHER

Desire LOVE Romance

All lovely words
when understood

All so misconstrued
silence envelopes our delusions

Desire, we lust the attention
at the forfeit of philosophy

Love, we crave at Kings expense
	at times
Sacrificing those whom love us true
			spilling blood at humanities alter

Romance, we desire for loves embrace
knowing serpents sell snake oil remedies

Beware the soft spoken
cringe when you hear words only a token

Seeking the truth, not platitude
discover love, in those that.........

Breathe actions, not poetic verse

In the moment of reading his tender words, I was inspired.and honored and humbled, by his generous and kindhearted offer to finish this poem with him through our creative cooperationIt was my great pleasure and a tremendous poetic experience for me to create and write with Robert, a fine poet of such high caliber who just so happens to be my esteemed friend as wellRobert, you made my first collaboration a pure joy and our friendship and partnership in poetry is cherished. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Robert’s Poet’s Note: How our collaboration on this poem came to beI had this short poem fragment from many decades agoI saw some merit in it being completedAt first I sat down to write and finished the poem myselfThen I remembered the insight, the quality and beauty of Susan's previous collaboration with me - our sonnet duet and that sealed the dealI decided to ask her if she would finish that old poem fragment as a collaboration with meTo my great and fortunate delight she agreed to do so. A true blessing it is for me to compose with such a kindhearted and talented poet as my dear friend most assuredly is... Infatuated love Limerence

Lost in your elegance, if only time could stand still to capture this memory eternally. Reflection of the moon shimmers upon tranquil waters in congregation with the stars, as we sail in composed serenity. Only the echoes of night insects and illumination of fire flies distract me from your mellifluous voice, which accompanies your radiant smile. To describe your divine beauty is ineffable as I fall into limerence. Your ethereal eyes guide me closer, all resistance is futile, intoxicated by your natural allurement. My heart feels an epiphany with the revelation of true love. As our lips touch sensually my eyes are in a state of phosphenes, now oblivious to my surroundings. In hope this feeling is not ephemeral, my whole being is enticed by the desire to remain eternally in this moment. Silent One
Originally written 7 November 2015. All In All, True Magnificent Treasures Given

All In All, True Magnificent Treasures Given

Luscious the fruits, beautiful under moonlit beams
firmly planted roots, outstandingly hot, lush-sent dreams
all in all, glorified visions, heavenly sent
treasured deeply with rapture stored, sweet love-nights spent.

Tender kissing bites, honeyed dessert offered free
wonderful the flights, through blossoming forests of trees
all in all, miracles were given, lost soul found
in resplendent nights, covering soft virgin grounds!

Gold fairy dusted, jeweled eyes sending bright smiles
each promise trusted, an angel with no dark wiles
all in all, true magnificent treasures given
gracefully sent, in true-deep bliss, purely driven.

Beneath plum skies starlight glistening in her eyes
I see all I desire, and I do fantasize -
looking into her goddess blues, crystal gazing;
of our wild delight to be forever blazing.

In Eden’s solitude we dance to soft sighs of
waltzing wind-songs’ stirring verses promising love
with lilting whispered melodies so inspiring
my appetite for her wanton and untiring.

Ancient woodland’s moon casts smitten luminescence
breathtaking in beauty she outshines its presence
ecstasy flows an intoxicating river
inebriating essence in love’s deliver.

Your vivacious beauty enhanced by golden rays
illuminating your grace with a loving gaze
with ardent reflection of my phantom desire
to allow the pledge of love finally transpire.

Two common souls released from infernal abyss
to engage a rendezvous with heavenly bliss.
Together our spirits soar to realms of delight,
two lost souls united in the fading twilight.

With a chapter closing in reverie’s accord
we share a secret paradise of love’s award.
All in all, wondrous senses of passion recall,
from heart to soul we reminisce, as love is all.

Love Has Its Costs

THIS IS A FICTIONAL WRITE THAT EXPLORES THE QUESTION OF WHAT LOVE ISIT DOES SO IN A DRAMATIC WAY, AFTER ALL THAT IS MY DNAIT ALSO TAKES A UNIQUE AND CONTROVERSIAL APPROACH TO THE TOPICIT IS MEANT TO STIR THOUGHT NOTHING ELSEIT POSES QUESTIONS AND SUGGESTS ANSWERS BUT MAKES NO CONCLUSIONSSOMETIMES AS WRITERS WE HAVE TO MAKE WAVESSOME WILL RIDE THOSE WAVES ON THEIR SURFBOARDS AND CONSIDER THEM INVITINGOTHERS WILL FEEL THE WAVES CRASHING AGAINST THEIR FLESH AND IT WILL BE PAINFUL.

Love is a streetwalker at the corner of Hooker Lane and Prostitute Crescent.

You wanted to payDo it and leaveThat's the way it's suppose to happenBut it doesn't quite go like thatShe is looking at your eyes and she sees something and it feels like love to herShe cries and her tears are realShe touches your face with her pretty little hand and goosebumps run up your spine and you lose your breath.

You kiss her and stroke her hair and you are staring into her eyes as her pain grabs you by the biceps and touches your heartSo you just hold her you hold her and you love her as if she is a beam sent for you to project sent for you to protect.

She opens up and says words you heard in her tearsYou listen you hold her and you just listen as she peers into your subconscious to sit with the frightened child inside of youYou take each others hands and you roll in the softness of the innocence of your childhoodYour silly hopes and dreamsHopes and dreams that back then were anything but silly

She is beautifulShe is barely twentyAnd you? Well you are going on thirty or is it forty.

You pray God will save herNot pray you mumble itHer smile tells you she knowsShe feels like your responsibility and you don’t want her to die on the street working her cornerYou don’t want to feel but you doYou are a weaved outer core of veins and you doYou feel everythingYou are her

She looks in the White Knight eyes she pinned on your face and you know the pins are there and you see her with your Gladiator brights.

You make love to her and she loves you back and holds you in her dream of what might have beenShe is your Queen and you have stripped your armor, stripped your flesh and your organsYou are naked in her shineYou are raw in her light.

Sex? Sex costs one hundred and fifty bucks! Sex? Sex is two dogs humping in the parkSex is not love, it is emptyEmpty because the person is a stranger and there is no emotional connection

At least that is what you thought.

But one day you are 53 years old and you think of your one hour bought womanDid I say woman? She was a girl a vulnerable lost girl.

It is more than ten years later and you still remember herThat single hour in your life and it is engraved on your skullTattooed to your mindJust one wordFOREVERYou can barely remember six year long relationships but you can still remember the touch of a woman, yes a woman you were with for just one hour in your lifeYou can still feel her skinHer tears still burn like molten lava

She is still on your palette; you still feel every word that penetrated your hide and struck the part of you that was herYou remember itNot as a single moment but as every tick of the clock, and the multitudes of emotions, of thoughts, of realizations, of questions that existed in each and every second and you wonder...

Maybe you can buy loveOr at least find it on the other end of a financial transaction, maybe once you did..

Maybe love doesn't last three hundred and sixty five pages like in a novelMaybe love isn't roses from the first frame to the closing credits, with a beginning a middle and an end

Maybe love is the memory of a 60 minute love affair with a working girl you met all those years agoA memory safe and sound, written and produced, neatly tucked in the black vinyl grooves on the highway between your heart and your brain.

Poetry Pillar

When Light needed a body to behold, and color to kiss,
as Darkness dreamnt to die in the dawn of depth,
when Soul lustered to lust for learning, and being learned,
as blood bespoke to bones for building a star of flesh,
when Time needed the umbrage of it's ubiquity to be understood,
the moment texture tempted touch to tease with a thousand sensations,
when laws of love sought a language to express the extremes of it's lips,
as romance rampaged through the ravishings of famished hearts,
when the seduction of sorrow made heros of loving men and women,

When Justice appealed to the instincts of intent for inscriptions of innocence,
as bravery found battle in basic questions of survival and conquest,
when war demanded a metaphor in the terror of it's diligent destruction,
as Faith found resolve in seconds small along with giant gestures,
Death singing melancholoy for sympathy and Life haughty upon it's horizon,
when Angels chose to wear albatross of gold to feel the rue of rogues,
as the most perfect woman ambushed the ideals of rumored beauty,
when God wanted imagination to create immaculate reality
Poetry began, born in the instant of forever Art,
because, the only promise of a Poet, is Passion -

Dedicated to Poetry...J.A.B.

I Know of Great Love

I Know of Great Love

I know of great love...
the kind of passion that
surpasses ecstasy into
a world of oblivious bliss
soaring among the clouds
in the ethers of heaven
with a newness that
never grows old or faint.

I savor these golden
treasures within my heart,
within my mind that is
filled with memories of
past and present as I look
forward to our future
moments, suspending us
in love's rapturous arms.

No love song could express
the joy you have given me,
nor the Valentines of
intimacy written by poets
with profound adoration.

Your voice is my love song,
your tender touch, my bliss,
your warmth, my security in
feeling, I know of great love.
You are now and will forever
be my beloved Valentine!

LONGING FOR FATHER'S LOVE

I am not a father
Nor I am a mother
I am just a daughter
That is growing better...

Father, you have been away
I truly wish you have stayed
Hugging me as I lay
I don't need much penny...

All I have been missing is you my daddy
Your love and your real company...

Look, how I am now
I pursued my little vow
Hoping always, You'll be proud
It's alright if you'll not be loud...

All I want is for us to bond...

Yes, I am neither a kid nor a child
Ever anymore
But still, there is that longing
I cannot deny...

I miss you much, daddy...

Summer Wine - An Erotic Romance

The video is intrinsic to the setting of the sceneThe vocals and music track by ‘The Corrs and Bono’ are background music incidental to the plot.

A balmy night it was when he stepped in the bar A wondrous apparition at a table not far The singers crooned soft notes on a stage dimly lit The name of the song eluded he had to admit The pianist played softly, mood lighting set the scene Projected colours of amethyst, pinks, blues and green Elegant and haughty her brow slightly frowned She sat all alone when he cast his eye around He approached her shyly asking to join for a while With a nod she gestured to her bottle of pink wine Her hair so lustrous matching her brown smoldering eyes Her lips so inviting with the curve of her smile She lifted her glass, her invitation divine They toasted each other with her sweet summer wine He covered her hand their fingers felt the thrill The room in slow motion, a world standing still Euphonious echoes of rapturous heights Scintillating patterns of bouncing laser lights He walked her home under a sky of azure blue Under pink frangipanis heavily dripping with dew As he turned to leave she indicated to stay awhile Invited him in for her sweet summer wine Tongues probing - entwined - an angel’s spring kiss His pulse how it raced as he stroked shapely hips The sweet summer taste on her exquisite lips Kindled a love - an enchanting rhapsody of bliss A click of the clasp - flimsy garments released Shimmering seductively around to her feet Sensually turning now absolutely au naturel Revealed her etched beauty of a form so sensual His projected resplendence complimented her perfections And the majestic elegance of her peaked manifestations Desire for feather touches and moist sweet lips To be tantalized by the elation of a lover’s sweet kiss Trickling down her pearl valley rampantly on fire Liquid crystal gems forged in a tunnel of desire Soft touches and kisses on her silken skin A washed him in nectar from her passion within Cloud soft mattress - sheet threads so fine United as one as their limbs entwined To celestial choral rhythm and soft moans of rapture Harmonious they moved to quench intense pleasure On a Richter of ten - bodies quaking molto allegro Celestial Symphonies shrieking to alto crescendo A comet streaking from a Stellar above signalling their passionate release of love Yin meeting Yang so gracefully entwine Beaming their energy into the Universe divine Together they basked in a euphoric state The night had advanced as he indicated the hour late She stroked him so gently saying your time is mine So tarry a while for some more summer wine
Footnote: Do I hear you asking if someone else was involved - in this write? Well! - in projects like these it usually needs a couple’s consensual, combined experiences! Pleasures of Reading

It pleasures me
That she reads me
Inside her serenity
Parked on our bench of antiquities

I, whom gazes over there at her,
Later in the dusk of candlelight
Shall remove her pink dress
Tiss then
I shall see she derives her pleasures
As I read her

Holding Water

I wish love could be a river
Flowing through the trees
Sparkling like crystal waters
So I can drink her as I please
But this love she's complicated
She often brings me to my knees
My need is like a fever
That feels like a disease

At times she make me strong
I feel like the mighty oak
Other times she wraps so tightly
In her embrace I start to choke
At times she feels so solid
And then she turns to smoke
When I think in terms of forever
She laughs like it's a joke

Yes, I want her to be a river
Flowing through the trees
Sparkling like crystal waters
So I can drink her as I please
But love she's complicated
She often brings me to my knees
My need is like a fever
That feels like a disease

When the years turned into shouts
Love didn't love me any more
What was broke just couldn't be fixed
Love kept me locked outside her door
She once had made me happy
Then in two my heart was tore
I had wished upon her forever
Instead she abandoned me on the shore

Then I went down to the ocean
There I found love near the sand
She was not mine to control
Her nature I could not command
Love, she's far too complicated
Her I may never fully understand
When I try to hold her to tightly
She slips easily from my hand

So I dive into her ocean
Feel her cure my heart's dis-ease
She becomes my endless pleasure
She says "Do with me as you please"
Time is no longer important
I travel her ocean like a breeze
Love she was always forever
Now I enjoy her with such ease

So if you want love to be a river
Flowing through the trees
Sparkling like crystal waters
So you can drink her as you please
Try not to hold her tightly
if you wish to cure your hearts dis-ease
Love she can gift you forever
or leave you broken on your knees!

Home Collaberation with Silent One

Standing in the heart of this city
in awe of spectacular lights illuminating tall buildings.
Millions of strangers rush to and fro.
Who would've thought I would be here of all places.

But here I am feeling misplaced
in a place where no one knows your name

I fasten the winter coat tight
to keep my heart wrapped warm,
because this city of strangers is so cold.
People wandering like bad actors struggling
to play their part with faces lacking expression.

Concrete towers seem to imprison me
in a place my soul does not belong.
I walk the same path monotonously,
wondering where it all went wrong.

But here I am feeling lost and alone
I'm smiling but only to keep the dancing tears at bay.

I can't be someone who I'm not,
nobody seems to appreciate that I'm misunderstood

And the dream that brought me here today,
now wants me to return home.

As my naked breath freezes in the air,
for a moment tired eyes close.
A smile sneaks through reminiscing Chamorro dreams.
Bathing under a blazing sun whose rays
glow through clear azure skies.
Crystal sapphire seas invite my soul
to immerse in tranquil waves,
peacefully admiring pestrel and
shearwater birds soaring high above.

I can almost hear warblers chirping melodic songs
of home, perched on a parade of paipai and coconut trees.
Scents of colourful plumeria and hibiscus petals
draw my senses closer to my heart's province.

Old foot prints have now washed away.
How I long to walk on sands of my forefathers,
where loved ones await with open arms.

A major honor to collaborate with Silent One

Where Love Was So Hot, It Melts Hardest Of Stone

Where Love Was So Hot, It Melts Hardest Of Stone

He loved her so much, his soul awash in her all
Forever had no real meaning until she came
Her touch, searing flame that inspired his lustful call
She the ravishing beauty, he wild and untamed

Together, dark and evil world appeared so bright
Future promised paradise and castles of gold
Glowing moons honored them on hottest love filled nights
Unknown, yet theirs was greatest story ever told

Dawn's first wakening shown only in her bright smiles
His heart and soul tender, seeking beautiful flame
With true love, no jealous envy or clever wiles
Each whispered prayers of love, saying the other's name

Where Love was so hot, that it melts hardest of stone
They had found Love, never again to be alone

Rebel Girl

She doesn't believe in quiet love
wasn't born to bleed shyly,
couldn't care about the cost of conquest,

Too beautiful to be bitter, and too young to be cynical,
a cerebral seducer, a critical killer of caution,
too clever to be a casualty of competition,
the antithesis of a quiter
a warrior woman first,
the woman for whom I thirst,

When the battles are long
with the night swallowing safety
and your armor heavy
come to me with body ready,
be naked in my handsome hands
which grip your fatigued feet as if they are my clay of choosing,
sit into me in a bath of luxurious warmth, chamomile lavender calm,
Rebel Girl, happy and hugged with your back against my caring chest,
trusting my rubbing, loving my touching,
your lips moving in silent approval,

The war will return for us
testing our bruised wings of heart,
but tonight we defend this castle of loyal love
sheltered from storm and suffering -

WAVE INTO YOU

I was the one with the color-blue eyes,
you were the wind on the sea
Of all the oceans tossed by your kiss
why did it have to be me?

Pardon this wind for causing the wave
                                                One as free-spirited as I
was myself surprised, your gravity called,
your lips I could not deny

A soaring breeze calms not a sea
and I would be remiss,
to think my journey to your heart
began with but a kiss

Why would you wonder, oh King of the deep
did you not feel the spark, the magic?
You wound my heart, with thoughts that start
to doubt my intent, it’s tragic

Indeed I felt it, burning deep,
your spark inflamed desire
Enraptured now, I long for more,
my heart a raging fire

Arise, my King, from current doubt
                                                 and begin to breathe anew
                                                 Haven't I hovered long enough
for you to get a clue?

Bend, oh Queen, yield your will
and we will rise above,
the ebb and tide of mortal bane
swept away in love

Into your ocean I'll sail my vessel
on a course set sound as stone
                                                  Prepare yourself oh majesty
for I will share your throne.

Whispers of Your Soul

I wanted to hear your whisper
Yet I could only hear you shout
Your soul filled with all it's turmoil
Filled my own heart with so much doubt

By holding tightly to our pain
Silence became extremely loud
The softer notes within reason
Couldn't be heard above our proud

Were we lovers of the darkness
Cutting through silence with our knives
Shredding perceived insecurities
In hopes of saving our own lives

Some dances were not meant to be
I heard the anguish in your voice
You took a walk, didn't look back
Loving another was your choice

Then I heard a different whisper
Bubble up, from inside of me
Lessons learned, from a broken heart
Meant freedom from insanity

MY HYPOCRISY

Were I to know your depth’s degree
I’d want to dive quite fearlessly
give all the things required of me
to plunge into our destiny.

Were I to touch the heaven’s gate
I’ll even bear hell’s jealous hate
for being in this tortured state
you’ll see that I’m your destined fate.

Were I to scale the steepest height
of friendship's pleasure and delight
I’d want to share our deep insight
fun and laughter each day and night.

Were I to taste your sweetest kiss
I’d want to stay, that I won’t miss
for too long I did wait for this
the moment our souls meet…a bliss.

Were I to hear your heart’s desire
I'd want to touch, feel the fire
the fiercest heat while wind and choir
rise to the highest notes of lyre.

Were I to hold the strength of yours
absorb the substance of your force
I’d want to leave a charted course
and row with passion’s guiding oars.

Were I to ride the ocean’s waves
before it feeds the tempest’s graves
I’d want the shelter your heart saves
for you my love, it’s I… who craves.

But, were you to ask this of me
be your true love eternally
I still cannot accept, you see
…this is my sad hypocrisy.

So I'll pretend not loving you
I'd rather hurt ourselves in lieu
of people who shared our lives' hue
before my world got splashed by you.

Pandora's Temptation

For the third time Pandora stands before the box Inlaid with jewels ivory and gold In her hand is the key – she closely examines Intrigued by its intricate patterns - so ancient- so old Her Creator’s mandate she has obeyed She won the love of Epimetheus and at her bidding Never to open their wedding box - he had never been tempted Her devoted lover despite brother Prometheus forbidding Her every wish - her husband’s command But Zeus’s words her obligation till today 'Ouchi to koityon anoiksis’ However wedding presents need to be opened Insatiable curiosity leading her to disobey She is aware the brothers had so angered Zeus When Heaven’s hearth fire they defiantly stole That was denied to mankind to teach them a lesson But she is unaware of the Gods plan and her critical role Like witches a brew they must concoct A female clay form fused to conception Zeus and the Gods hatched a heartless plan A woman will be part of their cunning deception The breath of life is bestowed by Athena From Aphrodite comes insatiability and beauty Music from Apollo - Speech by Hermes Bringing brothers to justice was her God given duty They named her Pandora - ‘The Bearer of Gifts’ Then present her they did to the brothers two Epimetheus captivated, enchanted when eyes first met Eager was he to plunge into the sweet sensual brew Brother Prometheus ever overly cautious Suspicious of this beautiful apparition Too late is his warning when Cupid appears Swift arrow finds its target without hesitation Pandora and Epimetheus are happily wed The plot that relies on mans greed starts to seed But in his zeal to punish - Zeus overlooked Love’s Power True Love will overcome a mere mortal’s greed FROM LIGHT TO DARKNESS - FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT ‘This priceless box must contain vast treasures The gold inlay alone must be worth a fortune’ Curiosity overcomes the fear of disobedience Then winds enter to blow away all caution Lifting the lid gently, Pandora closes her eyes Then opens them slowly prepared to be amazed Her looks of expectancy soon turns to horror There are things in there that make her afraid Out of the box pour moth like creatures Stinging her till she falls to the floor Pandora’s Box has unleashed to the world Poverty, Misery, Disease and opened Death’s door Epimetheus in his love rushes to her aid Slamming the lid, but alas it is too late They sting him as well and as they lie together In the throes of death - her action sealed Mans Fate Softly so softly the flapping of wings A little voice imploring for its release On opening the box emerges a dragonfly of beauty Exuding such feelings of calmness and peace She alights on them, she breathes air like kisses, Curing their afflicted wounds and their sorrow Releasing them from Death’s Dark Wishes To make amends for a new tomorrow In this precise moment Pandora knows her name A changer of circumstances presenting new scope She is the Emotion found between Despair and Love She is Elpis - She is Expectation - She IS HOPE
Acknowledgement: My heartfelt thanks to my dear friend Demetrios Trifiatis for your translation of - ‘Do not open the Box’ into ancient Greek ‘Ouchi to koityon anoiksis’. Demetrios is a well known, long term contributor to Poetry Soup and his poems and daily inspirations are a source of encouragement to all. While the music is not music from the Pandora Opera, we felt that more dramatic music was needed to suit the story. O Fortuna –Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, seemed to fit the bill admirably.

Dreamlove

they met, once upon a time-
her silky hand melds with his
for but a moment
an exchanged glance, fleeting
chocolate brown orbs
swimming in pools of milk
ebony hair dancing across her
backless gown as she walks away
walked away…

swirling visions fill his head
dreams of her upon his bed
spinning, thrashing to and fro
stars put on an astral show
future bride on horse so white
sparkling jewels illume the night
speaks his name so sweet and low
eyes that cast a hopeful glow
calling, begging for his love
angels dance a waltz above
off they ride into the sun
forevermore they’ll live as one

‘twas the night they met
her heart stolen-
tapered black tie suit, cufflinks of gold
matching his golden locks
momentarily awestruck, diving into
piercing deep blue eyes
was all it took to set her blood afire
his seductive smile teasing
it’s way into her heart…

late at night when the world is asleep
she’s up thinking about him,
secretly hoping he’s dreaming of her too
when she finally closes her eyes
she drifts off, and in a moment of time
she’s with him, ready to love him
bands of gold glimmer like starlight
her silky gown drops gently to the floor
Andromeda turns her gaze
lost in love’s embrace
they burn like the midnight sun-
forevermore to live as one

she glances his way
her heart smiling, believing-
meeting him was destiny
she walks past his desk
drinking in another fill of him

if only she could tell him…

if only he could tell her...

he catches a glimpse
from his lonely cubicle
the nape of her neck beckons
a tender kiss, well-placed-
before long he's lost in a daydream

The Days Before You

I no longer recall my yesterdays
or the ho-hum, mundane things I once did
The years I spent suspended in life's haze
Shielding the wounded heart, I shyly hid

Until perchance the day I found someone
Whose tender heart reflected shades of blue
He wore a dark mask, but it came undone
When I searched his sad eyes, twas then I knew

Our days were filled with laughter and great joy
Long nights consumed with passionate desire
No reasons to hide in disguise as coy
In the throes of love we gladly conspire

No trace of deep loneliness we once knew
No memories of the days ~ before you

Thy Silent Thoughts

Thy Silent Thoughts

So beautiful are thy silent thoughts
I would watch thine eyes all day.
There is wonder in them, as the sun's first flash
Through tumult of ocean spray;
In them the shining calm of upland pools
Mirrors the glory round,
And their shadows are the shadows of sweet flowers
Upon the summer ground.
So beautiful are thy silent thoughts
I would watch thine eyes all day;
More beauteous in their silence than the stars,
Than the silent stars, are they.

Decadent Proposal

She senses before she sees The manicured nails - the elegant fingers Holding out the hundred dollar bills - enticingly - so temptingly A generous nights takings of busking here In one proffered hand She grabs at it petrified it might be an illusion Evaporating in a puff of smoke Fingers hold it back, teasingly Compelling eye contact She looks up sceptically Dark eyes meet her aqua blues, sparking a sort of affinity ‘Eyes are the window of one’s soul’- so it is said in all sincerity But the magnetic dark eyes of her enticer are fathomless in their intensity His type she has encountered before - money for favours Well she is no novice - a living after all - a girl has to make And his generous offer rivals his devilish good looks But she senses a darkness favouring the energy emanating A cold shiver runs through her veins like someone just walked on her grave Fear ripples down her spine akin to a stroking finger chilled in ice The spell he casts foreboding The calmness of the night has taken flight In its haste to set the macabre scene Mesmerising are the eyes that bore into hers Projected thoughts furtively slip into her mind Infiltrating it like a slithery snake Bringing with it forbidden thoughts of desire She falls into the inky black abyss Succumbing to heady dark passionate conceptualization However the chilling message is coherent This is not a mere opportunistic one night stand That he desires This is more - so much more This is taboo concupiscence unleashed This is her life in exchange for what? Her life for immortality? Surely not! Yet his eyes eloquently convey it all The hunger so unconcealed - so transparently flagrant To yield to darkness Satisfying his appetite for Death of a different nature? Obliteration of life as she knows it to be Tenebrous Immortality in exchange for her blood A prelude to his finale of taking her soul And then a metamorphosis From Prey to Predator

Mystical Lore of the Moonlight Moth

Mystical amour of moonlight moth's whimsical lure, her glowing flame in sensual saffron gold attire; restless tease with every breeze, gilt cavorting contour, pale green flutterings, her wings stirring his breath afire. Lilting lightness in beaming brightness, her dark eyes shine, in the night renewed flight, fragile love on agile wings; aerial display of desire's ache amaranthine, hungry heartstrings crave what evening's ebony brings. His illumination sparks her imagination, heart’s replete, breathless beats, she basks in his halo-heat; fascination with chance her hot romance, damnation, flame’s fickled spurn, wistful wings burned, by love bittersweet.
