Young Nick

(A place to die)

Memories deal in wounds and everlasting pain
Young Nick rambled and gambled in Vicky’s reign
Fell amongst the unlawful in Fremantle jail
Guilty of thieving, execution without bail.
Alas not the majestic oak or birch nor beech
Those with limbs stout and true this equation in breech
Chose not the sycamore ample with summer leaf
But the legendary black stump “Ningaloo Reef.”

This is a story about a place to die, Nick an indigenous Australian
chose to die near the love of his life an indigenous tree stump.
all the other alternatives were introduced species from the
old country.
