You Never Cared For Me

You Never Cared For Me

You never cared for me
I was not your son ,
We did not embrace
Each or either one .
Your religion a mockery
With iron fist you ruled,
Like lambs to the slaughter,
Centuries to be undone.

You did not care for me
I was never your concern
A divorced catholic mother
A protestant English father,
You preyed upon the weak,
Drink and deceit your lover,
My only crime was that
I was born outside these shores.

You did not care for me ,
I was a blow in not one of you ,
A reminder of your past
An unwelcome guest,
An outcast at eight,
Guilty of being born
You sleep with hypocrisy,
In waiting , judgement day.

You did not care for me
A limey pawn, a statistic
On your census.
On parchment written
Like Fenians centuries before
Without free will
To Hell or Connaught go.
I chose freedom over Hell,
Left alone with my bitter pill.

You did not care for me ,
Like a mother would ,
Your arms never reached
The places that they ought
Or watched over me when
I needed your love.
My home was never you .
And now you've gone
Neither of us has either ONE.
