You Aren'T Afraid At All

I didn’t get to say goodbye to you
When you passed away out of the blue
I didn’t get to make it up to you
When I hurt you badly in rage and rue

I want to change, I do
But I can’t stop thinking of you
And the things I put you through
To be honest, it’s true —
I love you…
Come back, baby, come back

You aren’t afraid at all
When I want to stand tall
You aren’t afraid at all
When I walk this hopeful hall
You aren’t afraid at all
When I have my fist against the wall
You aren’t afraid at all
When my heart beats in appall

I didn’t mean to use you as a punching bag
When you were living life without a reason to brag
I didn’t mean to manipulate you and damage
The relationship we once had — it’s a lot of emotional baggage

I want to change, I do
But I can’t stop thinking of you
And the things I put you through
To be honest, it’s true —
I love you…
Come back, baby, come back

You aren’t afraid at all
When I want to stand tall
You aren’t afraid at all
When I walk this hopeful hall
You aren’t afraid at all
When I have my fist against the wall
You aren’t afraid at all
When my heart beats in appall

I’m sorry for everything I do
That harmed you in any way
I haven’t a clue, haven’t a clue
You’ve gone away, gone away
I’m sorry for not holding you close with pride
I suppose I’ll be moving on now…I’ll make it up to you I vow
I love you, I didn’t know you were hurting inside
I’m sorry you died, I can’t recover completely somehow

I want to change, I do
But I can’t stop thinking of you
And the things I put you through
To be honest, it’s true —
I love you…
Come back, baby, come back

You aren’t afraid at all
When I want to stand tall
You aren’t afraid at all
When I walk this hopeful hall
You aren’t afraid at all
When I have my fist against the wall
You aren’t afraid at all
When my heart beats in appall

I’m sorry I let you down
You aren’t afraid at all when you left this earth, my shimmering sun
I’m sorry I wear this frown
Hopeless and feeling guilty for not giving you quite enough attention
I’ll get over what I have done to you
Eventually, I’ll forgive myself too
But, know I love you from the start
Even when you’re gone, I’ll take heart
