Love Poem: Water and Air

Water and Air

Only water and air separate us
A tenuous distance at best,
And though sometimes at night
Sleep removes you from sight
Still, I find, love as touch gets expressed.

In the water! I feel ripples lapping
My heart knows its place on this shore,
Air’s enveloping nest
Is love's heartbeat confessed
As both flow with moon’s tides evermore.

As our consciousness streams, I hear ripples,
Air floats on their way (God knows where),
All must flow to the sea,
Gravitating but free,
Both in water and air, you are there!
