Twelve Red Roses

I’ve brought you a Mother's Day bouquet tied with a black bow. And amidst twelve red roses, I placed one as white as snow. You gave birth to thirteen souls but one passed on before you. And I recall how that pain nearly tore your heart in two. This sprig of scented kisses is to tell you we're alright. And each red rose is thriving, while the white shares heaven's light. This floral salutation is to honor you today. And tell you that I love you, in my sentimental way. When angels took you from me, I laid roses on your grave. And not knowing what to say, I tried my best to be brave. I miss your smile in my life, now, I no longer feel whole. For it lit up the dark and illuminated my soul. (Quatrain) 5/15/2016
