Tryin' To Beat the Dawn

I get up to try and beat the dawn,
To become a shadow on the lawn.
It always ends up in my mourning,
for I never seem to beat you.

Your always there when I arrive,
Always your there, by his side.

Maybe you'll forget one morning,
Maybe you'll begin to think it's boring.
I've no idea, but I'll keep on trying each day,
Even if it takes years of not getting my way.

Some day,
One day,
I know I'll get to him before you.
Even if I must wake before the light,
And stand there, waiting to pick a fight.
I'll battle with you, for the right to be with him,
Every second, of every hour of everyday,
I'll fight until I beat you,
Fight until I finally defeat you.

Wicked, sick shadow of my love...
I wish so much,
I long to touch...
I wish to be at his feet,
to follow him, when we finally meet.

I long to be my lover's shadow..
Even if I disappear at the peak of noon,
I know that I will eventually return soon.

I wish to be my lover's shadow...
I long to follow,
Through deep, or shallow,
Mock him in his very move,
To travel everywhere he will chose.

I'll be right beside him through the day,
And disappear in the lonely night.

I long for the moon to throw down the life,
And make me appear with my love in the dead of night.
I will stay by his side, and watch him sleep,
All through the night, until clouds creep.
I slip away behind a cloud, and weep.
Until they all roll by, and once again,
I appear again at his side.

Watching over constantly,
Stalking in the light of night,
And sneaking in the bright daylight.

I get up to try and beat the dawn,
To become a shadow on the lawn.
It always ends up in my mourning,
for I never seem to beat you.

I envy the wicked, sick shadow..
With my love, you always follow.

I'll rise again tomorrow.
