True Or Not So True

Is she the one? my daughter asks
Of a mom not ready for the tasks
Of always knowing the words to say
Or the one to choose this summer day.
Is this the mare I should buy and ride
Along with mayor, side by side
As the Rodeo Queeen this July four?
I don't think I could love her any more.
She pleaded her cause with hope in her eyes
And praying the mare was the proper size
For my young daughter, I told her aye.
This is the very mare we'll buy.

Is she the one? My loved son pleads
Of a mother once all that a small boy needs,
Who must now stand by and relinquish him
To this young woman so tall and slim.
This is the one whom I hope to marry
And the very girl who will some day carry
A sweet grandchild for you to adore.
I don't think I could love her any more.
He pleaded his cause with hope in his eyes
And I knew no matter my nays or ayes,
This was the one he had chosen to
Be by his side his whole life through.

The mare was a winner and was true blue
To the little rider who somehow knew
This was the horse she would always adore.
She could never love another more.
My son's sad tale is more heart rending
And sadly to say has a different ending.
The wife he had chosen proved not so true
And broke his great heart and mine in two.
Now he has lost the hope in his eyes
And it matters not the nays or ayes.
He has lost the one whom he'd vowed to adore
And knows he couldn't have loved her more.
