True Love

Love doesn’t ask but gives it’s all,
Is at it’s loved one’s beck and call
As a mother has for newborn child
A love so true and undefiled
Without thoughts of self or selfish needs.
The slightest cry from babe, she heeds.

True love is like the flowing river,
Seldom a taker, always a giver.
To all that grows beside her banks,
She gives and does not wait for thanks.
The love she spreads o’er one and all,
She’ll not regret, shall not recall.

As a father for his beloved son,
True love has no expectation.
