Transiting Love

She wore that cotton dress to deal with the heat.
Double takes came often as we walked along the street.
I tried to keep up with her stroll,
She's always one step ahead of me.
At the station I paid the toll,
She took the seat with the most to see.

I would follow her anywhere,
  anywhere but backwards.
She's someone to confide in with,
  with even my last words.
