To Set Steel To My Heartbroken Resolve

To Set Steel To My Heartbroken Resolve

With spirit damaged, I did what I must
to set steel to my heartbroken resolve,
thereby preventing metal in my blood
from eroding and turning into rust

With heart cut that deep, no true hope remained
to set steel to my heartbroken resolve,
keep desirous memory from fading
this sad ole soul, I have forever stained

Loving dreams crushed, I fell into despair
to set steel to my heartbroken resolve,
hold memories just as long as I can
cherish images of your smile and dark hair

Now Time has diminished my great resolve
so die I must, to finally evolve

Note- I hope the reader may enjoy and find something of value in this poem , written about a very sad ending to a most romantic time in my young life.
Written to hold fast a memory although quite sad still a very cherished one, about a lost love from many decades past .
A beautiful lady that was just as wild, as I once was myself.
Dedicated to her memory as she passed away in 2001, almost three decades after our time together ended....
