To My Mother In Heaven

Do you still pray for me in paradise
are you healed and whole and beautiful again
Is little Jesse by your side so young was he when he died
Did daddy make it up that way and as he with you to stay
I wonder if you sing those hymns and play your harmonica
to glorify Him.
Has Jesus given you from the cup to drink, to quench that thirst
that dried your soul from sickness that made you old
a husk of the beauty you used to be, in Heaven are you blessed
and at last free.
Have you dined at Heaven's table and feasted with joy
those years of war and poverty do you know hunger anymore
Have you seen your mother and father again, your two brothers
lost in war and all those family and friends who passed before
Are you home in a palace grand no more shanty tiny house
are you home at last
I remember as a child I would awaken in the darkness of the night
there by the side of her bed my mother kneeled and bow her head
I would hear her softly pray for us to have a better day. She prayed for me and my sisters three, mother did you ever really sleep always praying
into the night deep, all those prayers you had to keep, my mother dear.
I kneel down beside my bed and to the Lord I bow my head my hands
clasped and my heart clear I pray for all I hold so dear. and dear God
I pray Above that for my mother please give her eternal peace
and salvations love.
