To My Dying Companion

Come sit beside me in the sunshine’s golden rays
Tell me what special secrets lie hidden in your heart
Things you need to tell me before you from me depart
About the things you thought about in our better days
It saddens me so that we must go our separate ways
You were my everything, my special love, sweetheart
The subject of my better poems, the secret of my art
There is that part of you that will stay with me always.

I want to know you as no one before me ever could
Thoughts of you must fill the remainder of my life
Give me joy and happiness without you I might lose
You have filled me with desire like none other would
You were my constant companion, my lover, my wife
And forever in my life another I could not choose.
