To Have Loved So Deeply

The sun will set before the tears begin
To wash away the time love had given
And become more than sadness, to live in
Whether or not my heart is forgiven
Perhaps in time, I will pause to reflect
On what was beautiful and tenderly warm
When we searched for welcomed dreams to collect
To hold soft in our palms before the storm
The flower grows, then it blooms, then it dies
And drifts away in a chilled lonely breeze
To awaken when my memory cries
And in remembering, fall to my knees
To have bathed in beauty, to know love's touch
To have loved you so deeply and so much
