To Dream of An Angel

Many years ago this very day
An angel celebrated her birth
She had come to see me once in a dream
But I knew not her existence on earth

No greater gift than the birth of a child
Celebrated with family and friends
A day of love, joy and giving
But I got the greatest gift in the end

A fortnight passed and one December day
It seemed heaven would no longer wait
The angel was sent into my life
And it was my turn to celebrate

On the 12th day of the 12th month
Santa Clause arrived early that year
Down from the top of the Christmas tree
Came my beautiful angel sweet and dear

I saw her again at the Christmas party
Where we enjoyed a few glasses of cheer...
I was nervous and acted like a dork
I was sure that she thought I was weird

Strange or not she was still interested
Maybe she was just as odd as me?
So I made my move and asked her out
She couldn't resist my charm and agreed

On a cold, icy and snowy day
We went out for an elaborate lunch
We dined on cheeseburgers and french-fries
And had to beg the waiter for ketchup!

I met her in time to miss her birthday
So I went shopping for what, I didn't know...
I was sure she'd like the Teddy Bear
But what about all of the clothes?

I felt as if I already knew her
It was like I knew what to get her
The present I wanted to give her most was me
But I think she liked the Teddy Bear Better!

I gave her, on Christmas day, a white poinsettia
In hopes that true love would flower and grow
No more wonderous a Christmas gift given
Thane love as pure as the winter's first snow

On bent knee I proposed on the beach
On All Saint's day was our marriage
Our love flourished like the beautiful rose
That grew one at a time outside Rose Cottage

Here in our Little House in the Pine Barrens
We always live the way life should be
With Salem, Arwen, Autumn and Carter
And lots of insanity!

By the grace of God, and her love for me
She stayed by my side, my angel, my wife
By the grace of God, and my love for her
I, her husband, owe her my life

Forever waltzing on the shore of our lives
Like the picture on our living room wall
To dance arm in arm come sunshine or storm
Even though I can't really dance at all!

She's my best friend, my love, my wife, my angel
From the day we met through eternity
She may not be somebody to the world
But she's the world to me!

I do but dream the impossible
All that's left is improbable some how
The damage is irreparable
All I have left is dreams for now...
