Tightrope Kind of Love Affair

In my dream world you're so willingly mine.
You encompass me within your arms.
I drink so deeply of your sweet wine.
Blinded I am in the blaze of your charms.

Yet when I awake you are not there.
Your scent still lingers in my bed.
I'll look into the mirror and stare.
Held captive by the words you said.

If only I could be free of the past.
Some strength would seep into my soul.
Your hold on me would never last.
I would not play this martyr's role.

But you are the very bread I consume.
Sustaining me from deep within.
Though mostly you just bring me doom.
I'll love you within an inch of a sin.

So baby come back my way again.
I'll be here waiting so darken my door.
Some day I'll throw away the pain.
Then you won't enslave me any more.
