This Time of the Year

I can't stand this time of the year. The worlds so cold and nothings filled with cheer.
I can't stand this time of the year people try to mask problems with lights and reindeers. But
the truth is still there, the ghetto is still dark and lonely. Even though they put up lights to mask
the darkness you still feel a sense of danger lurking. I can't stand this time of the year, pockets
get empty and worries start to settle deep within. People try to survive the world of materialism.
The one day that your kids ask for everything and you don't have the money to give it to them.
The devil is watching around this time, a war between good and evil is fought. God tries to help
by supplying winning lottery tickets and helping you find 50 dollar bills in the subways. But the
devil makes it worse he makes all bill collectors call you and makes it so you lose your check
just when you were about to cash it. This time of the year is a struggle and a hustle. You'd better
hurry home or someone hungry might snatch you. This time of the year is a war. A war within
yourself and a war of what's in store. But even though times are hard Christmas day still
happens and the smiles on every kids face is larger than life. This one morning beats all the
bad stuff.
