Love Poem: Things Lost

Things Lost

Molly was young when she flew out my door,
A spirited grey cockatiel, lost forever more.
My daughter sat by her cage placed on the front lawn,
She waited patiently for Molly to return, near until dawn.
Well, my cockatiel was found some fifty miles away,
Someone read the “lost posters”, a very happy day.

I placed my hand on the steering wheel and saw the sparkle missing,
My diamond ring had lost a stone, which sent me reminiscing.
Months later while I was driving my boss to an important meeting,
She noticed a small piece of glitter hiding underneath my seating.
Lucky to get back these valuable things from missing pets to diamond rings.
How important I thought it was back then, to find these very significant things.

But when I lost my Aunt, Dad and Mom, although memories always with me,
Forever lost is the most important thing, the unconditional love of a family.
