Love Poem: There Is a Shadow Like To Doom

There Is a Shadow Like To Doom

There is a shadow like to doom
Whose darkness shakes the very gloom
Of solitude in my lonely mind
Of solace that I’ve yet to find

Tis like a lover wishing well
Alone atop a distant knell
Alone upon a grave of stone
Where vampires are wont to roam

This anguish taints the very blood
As though there wakes a sudden lust
A vampire in the dark awakes
And with his bite the heart it breaks

Oh wretch of torments time must tell
The very loneliness of hell
Would cast on thee the sudden spell
Of lovers wishing well

In agony then my soul awakes
As though the morning could not brake
The chains which sorrow thus have bound
The anguish of a love unfound
