The Widower's Promise

Did he call out my name
when you wrapped your arms
around his pain?

Did a tear well in his eye
as snuggling close you
gave a sigh?

And after your loving kiss,
he did apologize.
It is after all
only a name to miss
now that you are in his bed ...
       (for I am dead.)

And so he turns to face
your sweet and silent smile.
His heart can not erase
the Promise to learn in awhile
to Love ...
again.
