Love Poem: The Waiting Room

The Waiting Room

I rub my eyes
And think why?
Why are we here
This is absurd

Chairs made of stone
Kings on their throne
Coughing everywhere
I’m in despair

Waiting to be called
Our life is stalled
Waiting for results
Running on impulse

The doctors room awaits
We are waiting at the gates
In we walk
No-one is to talk

Holding hands we sit
Stomach sinks to the pit
Here are your results
No more insults

Fear strikes like lightening
All very frightening
You have the all clear
Silently I cheered

Long road ahead
Dodged the arrowhead
From death itself
Put it on the shelf

Leave the doctors room
No more doom
Remission and ease
Welcomed rest please
