The Unwanted Priest

Only on his palm were cowries
And thread-cloaked bullhorn found.
Only on his neck we found
The coral beads of truth and courage.
Only on his hands lies the
Pearl of selflessness and
Emblem of Pedantry.
Only on his waist we found
The girdle of love for others.
Only on his head we found
The cap of consistency and assiduity.

Ever with him is the rod of Moses
Meant for the struggle for freedom.
There rose the Priest of the High
With gourds of power up the tower.
Though unwanted by few boot-lickers
But sought after by truthful million others .

Garbed with knowledge of truth
Embroiled only in unique intrepidity
Gifted with the power of oratorical wizardry
Endowed with atypical clouts of pen dotting.

Of a hunter christened “Odebowale”
Whose enemies never wanted his return.

Of an academic hunter whose fellow
Truthful hunters love with passion.

Of an intellectual hunter whose
Animals love so dearly.

Of a hunter with a rare astuteness
Unto whose brain they hunted and discovered
Six new scrolls for the kingdom of life.

Of an unwanted Priest with a resolute spirit
Upon which he rattles the hypocritical piety
Of a guile called “Ifa Priest”
With The so called magic wand.

Of an unwanted Priest with the salvo
That makes them trembles in treble.

Of an unwanted sapient Priest who
Wish not to subsidize their ignorance
For their foolishness en route vindictiveness.

                     But

Unlike their “Ifa Priest” whose custatory
For sanity drank from the bowl of insanity
The headmaster of our Universe du City in “Ibadan”
Whose goal is sanctimonious display
Of avarice for resources looting with pillaging.

Of them with the insidious plan to rain
The Odebowale family with hurricane of hunger,
Of him the “Ifa priest” whose time is no more today,
Of him the Universe du City’s headmaster yesterday
A name remembered only in the black book of men.
Upon him is the crown of an unwanted “Ifa Priest”.

Meant for Dr .(Barr.)Doyin Odebowale (High Priest)
An ASUU activist, source of inspiration to many
Students and many people within and outside
The University of Ibadan. Especially during his victimization
By the Prof .Ayodele Falase’s era as UI Vice Chancellor.
A piece for Baba Highest to keep up the flag of the struggle.
