The Thing About Sex

Known universally, yet rarely a
    Topic for public debate.
As social barriers surround
    Many needs to educate.
Yet the realization is firmly grounded,
    That its drive is innate.
While we try to romanticise
    The instinct to fornicate.
The most basic of efforts, might
    Be the will to procreate.
Whereas more complex notions
    Arise, as desires to recreate.
So what makes this topic so
    Difficult to articulate?
Leaving many to just figure it
    Out, while they blindly copulate.
Seems to me that cultural stop signs,
    Often rise to dictate.
Placing love before anything else,
    Effectively to negate.
This seems to go against the
    Being fruitful and multiply trait.
Hence no wonder the confusion,
    As it's hard to equate.
So basic is this understanding,
    Without reason to be late.
That both parents and schools,
    Need to jointly collaborate.
Otherwise, we've all seen, where
    Some lessons don't relate.
And the youthful can be lost,
    Left aside to await.
What must be accepted, not
    By fear to intimidate,
Is to respect the generation, that
    They can handle the weight.
Therefore, mentor the young,
    Without fearing the birthrate.
Because the lessons are life-long,
    And built-in to motivate.
