Love Poem: The Superlative Song

The Superlative Song

How peerlessly you have loved me
unlike any that I have known
put not even yourself above me
took me in and gave me home

You withheld nothing from my asking
even offered to me your throne
without your love our joy untasking
and its secrets you have me shown

Purchased you have us the ransom of a king
that you might release a begger ever wash her clean
who understands your favor something she has never seen
the world she lived among the treatment always mean

Your excellence incomparable to any other man
perfect sacrifice you offered retributions just demand
supremacy of quality in Truth you do delight
perfect gift you have offered and supernal sight

Nothing have you withheld to demonstrate your love
declared that what you taught came from Jah above
humbly in his service your life you did surrender
that those you would call might the same service render

For such a love many happily would die
that you might consider worthy little such as I
how could one ever hope to repay such a care
unless we ourselves can so similar to dare

Who has ever for you sacrificed their life
suffered mankinds abuses to release a wife
how would you respond if that were offered you
the only requirement this kind of love you do

Happily I would give the farthings that I own
never to depart such arms would I ever roam
have I never this kind of care found in earthly place
to keep it I would joyfully former life erase

Only as a parent could concieive I understand
to feed them clothe and shelter safetally in hand
gladly would have suffered to keep them all from harm
sheltered them from violence and the lies of charm

What crucible could form such loveliness in man
to aspire of its likes the apex of "I am"
oh how we are humbled no comparason to you
fallen by these standards everything we do

Its heighth and depth no man has attained its reach
that we should feel so inclined its readiness to teach
don't be looking at your neighbor message very clear
we ourselves must do the same if holding neighbor dear

The world would take this from you and give nothing back
blood stained is its ego , true affection it does lack
how can one hope to exemplify your name
if one is unwilling to do the very same

You have shown by your example Loves reality
what are its qualities in believers we must see
clearly in your teaching your characters display
those who say they follow you must demonstrate your way
