The Six

Mommy:
             When you abruptly left me
             on that cold October day,
             your voice was ever silenced,
but I still had things to say.
Daddy:
When you followed in her deadly path
             that sunny day in May,
             you escaped your sorrow,
but so much was left to say.

1st Husband:
When you stole from me and robbed me blind
so that you could have your way,
             I was rendered speechless,
there was nothing left to say.

2nd Husband:
When I needed you to listen,
             your scorn turned me away,
             mute in isolation,
             I wandered far astray.

Young Lover:
The next eight years I listened
             to a ranting, raving fool,
             an underlying madness
that you brandished like a tool.

Twin Soul:
But now, no words are needed,
we can read each other's minds,
my love, my mate, my soul-twin,
             until the end of time.
