The Simple Truths I Believe To Be So

The simple truths I believe to be so are
That personality gains respect for social status
That personality gains respect for sexual orientation,
That personality gains respect for ones color,
That personality gains respect for ones views on life.

The evidence that it is so,
Is written on the faces of those who choose friends whose social status,
Sexual orientation, color and way of living,
Are so very different than their own.

So, yes I believe it to be so,
You may choose other reasons why these friendships thrive against all odds,
And all attempts to break the bonds of friendships so made.
But the fact is they do.
And it is only the very worst among us who do not respect at least one,
Whose social status, sexual orientation, color or way of living,
Is so far removed from their own.

Surely the more we acknowledge the validity of these simple truths,
And let our personality be the key to our acceptance,
The more we will find being different than others is not such a big deal,
And the world will be a safer and happier place to live in.
It is already so for me,
My difference was a birth mark,
That few even tended to notice or comment on,
Yet others with birthmarks seemed to have them noticed and commented on All the time.

So, yes I believe these simple truths to be so.

We are all unique in one way or another,
And it is right that it is so.
