Love Poem: The Rhapsody of Fate

The Rhapsody of Fate

The sun shone bright upon a hill
There butterflies drank nature’s treat.
From beggar tick to daffodil,
They sipped their fill of nectar sweet.
Young lovers watched in silent thrill.
Then, suddenly their eyes did meet.
The rhapsody of fate began.
His quiet words, “I love you Anne.”

Her dream of love had seemed surreal.
With him her life would be complete.
He said it of his own freewill.
Two pounding hearts missed not one beat.
She heard a distant whippoorwill.
The summer sun had lost its heat.
Yes, through her mind his words reran.
Night fluttered there with her new man.
