The Reel Scripted Love Story

I feel most free when

Authoring the email and just press ‘send’

Letting go

From someone I left in the snow

A partner ever so cold

Decided this relationship hand I will fold

“Take the winning chip”

I did quip

Scribing the electronic script

Savoring my wine, I did sip

But the point is I am free

Reminding myself by staring at my earned degree

Hanging on the wall

Secure there and it will never fall

Time to head out

Into the summertime weather where I will shout

Free I am

No worries about any commitment scam

Forcing me into an economic jam

“Yes, I am free!

Just me!”

Alone here

Holding a happy hour beer

Observing the sun descending

When I started defending

The good parts to the last chapter

And the laughter

We had

Realizing my last partner was not that bad

Time to sleep it off

The alcohol I bought

In the morning when I turned on the communication device

Who was there listening ever so nice

Dialing up the zoom

Praying to the early morning moon

That I will not face my partner answer ‘I decline’

About the issue stating I wanted to resign

Suddenly something started to stream

Like it was a dream

There was a lonely exit light

Shining not so bright

Inside the movie house

Everyone inside silent as a mouse

Entertained as the romantic story pages started to unfold

About my relationship in the cold

Yet today I feel warm

Ready to play taps on my horn

Contemplating the scorn

Ending it all

Constructing a wall

Dividing us two

Thinking it would be cool

Trying to decide

Whether to confront or hide

Compromising on saying goodbye

But alas when sitting on the beach

A verdict was reached

To make amends

Using the computer keyboard to pen

But when a meeting was a request

The reply came from a guest

Just visiting the wintry land

Promoting frustrating ugliness as its brand

But who was this stranger?

Cozying up in my former manger

I wanted to know

What did my love interest find in the snow

Releasing me to be free

To find someone to water ski

In the end the cinema lights returned

I thought about who got burned

And for a second, it was only a sincere concern

Someone cut a deal

This cannot be the final reel

Ending I could not comprehend

Since it is all pretend

But it is true

Our tragic love story was through

On the positive side

I am not tied

Trapped with someone until I die

Instead, a new adventure awaits

Lurking in this tropical set sequel with another mate

All I must do is ask a stranger on a date

Taking the hook and the bait

Sealing my lifelong fate

That was worth the wait
