Love Poem: The Plastic Rose

The Plastic Rose

She sits beside a headstone
Three roses in her hands
Two which were freshly picked
One made of plastic to the touch

The number of roses she chose
Represent the number of years
Since they became husband and wife
A time of celebration, the day they start their life

She knew one day it could happen
Though it was kept in the back of her mind
That one day he would get his call
And never return to her arms at night

The reason she picked two live roses
And one plastic to the touch
Two represents the two of their hearts
The plastic means their love will never die

Though sad, she waits patiently
To be reunited with her love
She'll keep adding to those roses
Always remembering a plastic one
