The Night You Asked

The Night You Asked

As the band plays

Your song of choice,

Tonight we dance to rejoice

The night we first met.

You asked for my hand

To guide me to the dance

Floor to dance and hold me

Close to you, so you

Could smell my

Long blonde hair.

That night you danced

With me like Fred Estaire

I blushed as I noticed

That people were starting

To stare.

I’m so glad your cared to

Know me, to hold my

Hand and listen to me,

To learn to love me

Without groping me.

Your tenderness was

Rare to me.

You had style and

Flare to me.

I’m so glad that

Romance in still

In the air with us

Tonight.

I can tell you still

Love me by the way

Your brown eyes stare

Into my blue eyes,

Just like that night

When you

First asked me if

I cared to dance.

I love you

and I'm so

glad that you

asked me to dance

that night long ago!
