The Mundane, To Me, a Miracle

'Not enough' was my cry for so long,
only barely afloat through all the wrong.
But no more, for I am finally
home.

I want so dearly to block out all that time,
but that would be an even greater crime.
I will never forget those that took that road
with me.

Old friends, old jeans, old haunts,
defeating all the demons' taunts.
For all that time, so damn hard, but now -
just that easy.

At the welcome, everywhere, I am taken aback,
for plans and pleasantry, still regaining the knack.
To many, normal is boring - the mundane, to me,
a miracle.

Back to the book fair, to the midnight walks,
to the friendship and the hours-long talks.
Onto new memories to blend with the old, a new life
at twenty three and free.
