The Moment

She saw me heading her way, our eyes met,
I just knew that she was my life and yet,
My heart was beating fit to bust in my chest,
Would I say something dumb as I tried my best,
She may think me an awkward guy and turn away,
I closed the gap, desperate for something to say.
In the end she saved the day, she just said Hi.
I said Hi back , all I could say as my mouth went dry.
My mind in a whirl as I looked at this gorgeous girl,
She's the one, the only one, I knew I had found my Pearl.
What we talked of all that night is now not in my memory,
My quest was over, my heart said she was the one for me.
With a quaking heart and a dreadful fear, I drew her near.
The moment had come and I was shaking, that is still clear.
I needed to make sure, my chance was not to be missed,
Our lips brushed together, my eyes closed, we kissed.
I swear I felt red hot lava had seared into my very being ,
It coursed it way down into my mouth, my throat, my heart,
I had never felt so wonderful as our lips slowly came apart.
My stomach was doing flips that I couldn't control.
With just one kiss this woman had captured my soul.
From that first kiss, many years have now passed by,
Every kiss I feel now is like when I first caught her eye.
