The Day My Life Went Tipsy

The day my life went tipsy, weak-kneed and rosy, I met a boyish-man. He had a sidewinder-‘stache and I suddenly fell for a hairy man. Tickled lips like those propose suddenly to a starry-eyed sailor - me. Very quickly those skinny lips spoke I love you, knowing that chances fall, unless you grab the fullest glass.

full of plum wine s p u n k
the sparkling soar of her mind
windswept fun and clean

the brim of his hat
so close to his eager eyes
sees the horizon

I connected the dots in various ways - filled my diary with Mr. & Mrs. - delighted with swanlike cursive. He’s over me, I’m under him and side by side. In between I’m childlike, dreaming of banana splits and brownie sundaes - foods not available at mom’s and dad’s counter. And I make my bed tight as at any moment it might get inspected. Otherwise I’m lost in a haze, the heaven of the man chosen to be my love, the father of my kids.

my swanlike cursive
prettiness falls on paper
i’ve stars in my eyes

the crackerjack seas
ebb and flow builds character
a steady surprise

Valentine’s to Easter necking, intertwining, nesting. He swoops me up, carries me out of the factory - a girl can dream.*
