The Best Love I Never Had

The best love I never had

I think back to when we first met,
my thoughts linger I don't know why,
I remember everything we said that night...
I wish... I couldn't remember

I saw her standing there all alone
I thought, this woman's gonna change my life
when I approached her... then she started to cry
I never understood what happened

I wrapped her up in my youthful arms
I listened carefully to all she said
I said the words I thought would comfort her
She ran away... thinking I didn't care

Chorus
The last words I said... keep on repeating
I'm sorry... I'm so sorry,
There was nothing I could say,
to make her come back to me, and
I still feel bad...
she was the best love I never had
I still feel bad...
she was the best love I never had

I heard that she married, maybe once or twice
to someone who was just like me
I'll never figure out, just what's inside her mind
but, I know I have to let things be

Chorus
The last words I said... keep on repeating
I'm sorry... I'm so sorry,
There was nothing I could say,
to make her come back to me, and
I still feel bad...
she was the best love I never had
I still feel bad...
she was the best love I never had

Bridge
I still cry, I still cry
over the woman I hurt...
the words still cut like a knife...
I can't take them back now...
cause once they've been said...
the damage has already been done

Chorus
The last words I said... keep on repeating
I'm sorry... I'm so sorry,
There was nothing I could say,
to make her come back to me, and
I still feel bad...
she was the best love I never had
I still feel bad...
she was the best love I never had

I still feel bad...
she was the best love I never had
I still feel bad...
she was the best love I never had
