The Abandoned Notebook

I made a mistake; thinking ahead,
I usually stay between the lines,
Loving what I have, rather than being led,
Avoiding all confusion and signs,
But now I have an abandoned notebook in my hand,
No lines written, only regret in command.

I made a mistake; being attached too fast;
Now I'm left with sleepless nights,
And a heart tattered in cast,
My eyes didn't always burn with those lights,
As I gazed upon the abandoned notebook in my hand,
No lines spoken, no space given to understand.

I made a mistake; creeping ahead of the line,
A crossing I didn't mean to cross,
A line disrupting what should've been mine,
Now I was only left with sorrow and loss,
As I opened the abandoned notebook in my hand,
No lines read, ruining everything that was planned.

I made a mistake; speaking,
Now I'm scared of being what I was,
Why my head won't stop it's shrieking?
Constantly ringing, "You ain't nothin' but a lost cause"
As I wrote in the abandoned notebook in my hand,
A line made, after being banned.

I made a mistake; thinking of her all the time,
Now my mind is corroding, as she departs,
Am I a prisoner, being punished for my crime?
Now even a smile, shatters me in several parts.
As I closed the abandoned notebook in my hand,
I cannot leave it unwritten, even if I've lost my stand.
I will paint my heart in the notebook, as I hand her,
The abandoned notebook in my hand.
