Love Poem: Promise, Impervious

Promise, Impervious

Rhythmed ...
          Hearts thrum ...
               Some, far heavier than others
Darker, deeper, more tender and intense ...

Those, hung on the hook of vows and affiance
So quickened by a mournful word
A promise that bloats with guarantee and dream
Its hems, glinting with hopeful sparks ...

The most treasured of tales
          A grand and vainglorious fiction
               Honed, precise, with sublime edge
To bleed lovers' beats to stillness ...
