Love Poem: Once
Frederic Parker Avatar
Written by: Frederic Parker

Once

Once love was a promise, now tattered worn
Cold hollow feelings from decisions made
An unknown sadness when my love was scorn
For years unfolding, colored days that fade
I'm crippled by steps to its final end
And use my crutch of pictures from my mind
To walk cobbled roads I cannot defend
Trying to gather years I will not find
I realize I've disguised what was real
Through eyes of wishes and dreams could I see
Hidden by jeweled glows I came to feel
Left abandoned by time trying to flee
Once I had joyous wings and yearned to fly
Until I reached heights and learned to cry
