Love Poem: More Precious Than Life

More Precious Than Life

Darling, have you been held
and kissed by other guys,
who weren't as true as I've been;
and have you lost something
more precious than life?

We thought that love was
more precious than life...
living for each other and chase
after rainbows and butterflies,
not seeing how unwise
it was not to toss every dice!

Darling,this is hard to accept,
when loneliness takes you down...
and you face that ugly truth!
You desire me, but hesitate to touch me,
and my desperation offers no hope;
we hold into our hands
a wish to spend together
all the moments we can possibly dream...
I desire you, but can't say it freely:
what's keeps us apart is someone else...
building that wall we can't break down easily!

We thought that love was
more precious than life,
getting into our blood stream,
and making us really dream!

Did we ever have eyes filled with a passion
that made us feel we reached that height,
and didn't need to go any further?
Did we ever notice our need lacked emotion,
and that our promises weren't built on forever,
but on dreams that only faded after dark?

We thought that love was more
precious than life,
something so pure;
didn't we do enough
to keep it locked inside,
and surprise everyone alive?
