Love Poem: Letters That You Write

Letters That You Write

I sit alone almost every night
Reading the letters that you write
Thinking about what went wrong
While listening to our favourite song.
Tell me what I have to do
So that you will love me too.

You tell me that it's over,
With each letter that you write
I will never understand what's happening,
Our parting doesn't seem right.

I thought we would be together
For all the years left in our life,
I wanted you to be mine forever
I wanted you to be my wife.
To love me like i love you
To keep you safe from harm.

But you tell me that it's over,
With each letter that you write
I will never understand what's happening,
Our parting doesn't seem right.

I listen for your footsteps
When I'm sat here all alone,
Praying you will come back to me
That you will come back home.
But all you do is write to me
And break my heart in two.

So don't tell me that it's over
With the letters that you write,
Tell me that your coming home
And things will be alright.
