Jack and Jill

All alone through life, Jill learned how to suffer and endure life’s pain,
Her life she compared to a desert, so dry, never receiving enough rain.
She worked so hard, yet barely scraping by,
And when she would say her prayers at night too many times came the question why.

She had a way of choosing friends that didn’t really seem to care,
Other than what they could get, without themselves having to share.
Desperation makes for unwise decisions, and loneliness can fuel the flame,
Trying so hard to fill a void, or like an itch you could not tame.

Then one day out of the blue,
She met a man who would make her dreams come true.
Oddly enough his name was Jack,
And kindness in his heart, he did not lack.

Now Jack and Jill became a pair,
And for once in life Jill felt happier than she thought she could bear.
Now when she says her prayers at night,
She thanks the Lord before she kisses Jack goodnight.
