Love Poem: It's All Good

It's All Good

They ask me if you've given me
a diamond ring.
If not, a chrystal one at least.
I say you've done nothing
of the sort,
and it's all right
quite all right.
Hand me an old sweater
from the donation box,
and I'd wear it
with no shame, no distain.

They ask me if you've taken me
to a fancy steakhouse.
I say you've done nothing
of the sort,
and it's all good.
Hand me a leftover muffin
from the group home,
and I'd savor it
with no rancor, no regret.

Rich men and gold diggers,
they ain't us,
no they ain't us.
It's alright to be you,
just the way you are
from head to toe.
I will take you
with open arms
just the way you are.
Yes I will.
