It Wasn'T a 'Cat'Astrophe

I woke up on Monday morning and I was in a terrible mess My cat was caught behind the boiler and in deep distress She was mewing loudly in an absurd and irritable way I should call an engineer, but I have no money to pay Thinking on my feet I came up with an excellent plan Dan is my next door neighbour and an admirable man He’s got a gorgeous golden tan, he’s a guy I could fall for Plucking up courage I went to knock on his front door I explained my predicament and he kindly said that he’d drop by Maybe he likes me as I’m sure I saw the iris dilate in his eye I said I would appreciate his help if he could come over Hopefully he could rescue my little cat, her name is Clover Dan arrived quickly and grabbed poor Clover by the tail Her tail has kink in it, and she emits a dreadful wail! Dan wouldn’t take an iota of cash to free Clover from her ordeal But he was really genial when I offered to cook him a nice meal His generous help with Clover had saved me from a costly bill Just to be in Dan’s company would give me such a thrill Dan was so thoughtful and gave me some lovely orange flowers The time passed by so quickly we talked for many hours In fact if truth be told Dan never left my house that night I had to order Clover to make herself scarce until daylight!
