Love Poem: It Was Time

It Was Time

Finally it was time; the awaited day had arrived,
The church looked like a heavenly kingdom,
Decorated to complement the royal wedding,
The calla lilies adding their harmonic touch,
Candles altering the mood into a romantic gesture,
It was perfect except the centerpiece was missing.

A blinding flash of light came in as the church doors opened,
There stood my queen in her white dress,
Silence echoed the church at her entrance,
All I could hear was my heart beats increasing rhythm,
She glided in towards me with her dress carving her slender body,
She took hold of my outstretched hand, sending impulses running through my body.

Staring each other in the eye for what felt like hours,
Only to be interrupted by the vicar who received unpleasant looks from the couple,
He began to preach yet no human words could describe the love in that room,
Cupid himself started to get jealous of our love,
It seemed like we could spend the rest of our lives staring at each other holding hands,
Then the moment we both feared and anticipated finally came,
For soon we would truly be one united through love and soul.
