It Feels Like Breathing
He brings out of me what I need to be for the moment.
He turns me in his hand like a gem,
Letting the different facets of me show in the light.
I flash this way and that way,
Revolving,
Seeing things in me that I never knew,
All along,
Resting in his hand.
I am what he needs.
Precious.
I would have over-looked certain things in myself,
Certain strengths,
Certain abilities,
Character traits that I thought were insignificant.
Yet, in his hand,
They are all revealed.
In yielding to his whim,
I see myself more clearly.
I could only present myself from certain angles,
But he unveiled me.
He gave me the confidence,
The safety to freely roll about and be myself.
I didn't know how to do that before he came.
I don't know how to stop it, now.
And all of this wonder,
... It feels like breathing.
