Love Poem: Interplanetary

Interplanetary

Last night I was listening to the moon
I tasted honey at the end of the spoon
I felt the warm glow of the stars
I was the picture of the Sahara on Mars

I bought you diamond earrings
They are enjoyed by earthlings
Thought they’d complement your Venus
They cover the surface on Uranus

Your satellites have been nonresponsive
You know, universal calls are so expensive (ha, ha!)
My signal is escalated to mayday
Or are you mad at me maybe? (he, he!)

I’ve launched my love into outter space
Suspended animation was the other choice
Alien and human relationships, hey?!
Your species' contaminated my DNA

They’ve got me under quarantine
They say, “It’s just routine!”
Light years apart, interplanetary
You’re the cure to my agony
